This house was included in the Houston Parade of Homes in April-May 1959, held in Westbury. The tour included 35 houses and was sponsored by the Houston Homebuilders Association. Over 200,000 viewed it during the two month period.

According to Parade marketing materials, the house was built by artist/designer Alma Sevier Tillman and was described as an indoor-outdoor contemporary. Original features included a fountain in the entry and a large mural in the living area. The indoor/outdoor effect was enhanced by interior paneling that matched the tones of the exterior brick. The exterior trim was originally painted turquoise. The brochure noted "Family room and kitchen are masterpieces of built in convenience. Each bedroom closet has special storage provided for hats, shoes and purses. "

A double door entry leads to a soaring living space with cathedral ceilings. The living area includes a bold ledge stone fireplace. The dining room opens to a brick-walled intimate side patio. The innovative kitchen offers a panoramic view from an oversized window above the counter. The master opens to a patio and the pool.
