Another Friend of HAIF is kbookcycle.

This Houston-based web site lets you share your Kindle-formatted e-books with other Kindle users. Even better -- it lets you borrow Kindle e-books from other people. I've tested it with a couple of books, and it works well.

As of this posting, there's about 200 books available for lending, but the more people who join, the more books become available!

And you don't have to have an actual Kindle to read Kindle e-books. There are Kindle programs which let you read Kindle books on the iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, Windows, and probably that fancy new toaster you regifted.
