Scott & White Healthcare officials have confirmed their plans to build a hospital in College Station.

Katherine Voss, a spokeswoman for the Temple-based health care provider, said steps have been initiated toward building an acute care hospital on 98 acres at Texas 6 and Rock Prairie Road.

The move is a step toward the city's vision of creating a medical corridor in the area, but both city and Scott & White officials cautioned it's still early in the process.

On that corner, where the Wal-Mart was gonna be?

That's cool, I guess. I wonder if they'll rename Old Rock Prairie Road, or at least repave it.

Site work is well underway, I'll post some pictures as structures go up. I need to update many threads with some pictures. The Texas A&M Health Science Center in Bryan has about three buildings now.

It has come along quite a lot since I was last up there in October. It's still a bit odd to see since I haven't been up to the B/CS area that often in the past year and a half.

And it just keeps going up! It is SO nice to see our community have more options for heath care. Temple was just too far to drive for Scott & White members who needed a hospital.

With this large development has there been any additional news on txdot's plans for the Rock Prairie road/SH 6 overpass?

No, it won't open until early 2013. They are basically done with the structure and exterior, but they still have to set up the inside.
