In four separate ceremonies held around the state Dec. 16, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist (R.) signed into law legislation that partially funds SunRail, a $1.2-billion, 61-mile commuter rail project in Central Florida, and at the same time shores up the state's chances for federal high-speed rail dollars. Unfortunately, while Gov. Crist darted around the Sunshine State, clouds hung over the state capital and Secretary of Transportation Stephanie Kopelousos in particular for her alleged role in what's been called "Wafflegate."

Another rail-related note -- Seattle opened its rail line to its airport on Saturday. I don't know if it's over budget, but it is at least opening earlier than scheduled.

The fare is $2.50 each way, which is interesting because the bus for the same route is $2.75.

Wafflegate? Really?

That's it. I'm boycotting all news outlets until they can stop being so damned lazy.

Wafflegate... That's just pathetic... otiose... lame.

You got your morning exercise jumping to that conclusion.

The word "Wafflegate" was not coined by a news outlet. It was made up by the opponents of SunRail, then picked up and popularized in the local lexicon by Alex Sink, a gubernatorial candidate, and his campaign.
