editor Posted November 11, 2009 Share Posted November 11, 2009 CITY OF HOUSTON MODERNIZES SPANISH EGOVERNMENT CENTERThe City of Houston Information Technology Department launched a modernized version of its Spanish website - www.ciudaddehouston.org - the first step in upgrading the overall branding of the eGovernment Center."With the invaluable advice of our Mayor's Hispanic Advisory Board and our Citizens' Assistance Office, we've updated our Spanish website presence, in-house, at no extra cost to the taxpayer," said Mayor Bill White. "We've aimed to improve service to the 25,000-plus annual visitors to the Spanish eGovernment Center with these upgraded web standards and practices."New features on the Spanish eGovernment Center include:A Spanish Twitter accountSearch Engine exclusive to the Spanish websiteEnglish-equivalent links on all Spanish pagesWider format, which increases amount of information within the screen viewDrop down boxes in the header graphic, so every page of the Spanish site can be accessed with one single click to every other Spanish page In the first quarter of the new year, the City of Houston eGovernment Center will also undergo modernization, in conjunction with the five year anniversary of the debut of www.houstontx.gov on January 31, 2005.Content updates to the eGovernment Center is done in collaboration with one dozen website administrators in various departments and divisions Citywide and two City Webmasters who work in the Information Technology Department.
