I've been thinking about my long term career path of establishing my own firm quite a bit this past year. As most already know the architecture/design services field has suffered along with the rest of the economy, except we're typically about 9 months out from the current state of economy and it's been a brutal summer. I came across this article and it had me thinking about the concept of "shared savings contracts" in architecture. Not sure if this the appropriate forum (perhaps needing to be moved) but I was hoping some of our more fiscally savvy posters could enlighten me with their thoughts on the future of analog, material based professions (w/o the protections of IPR's) w/r/t the future digitalized world.

Regardless, an interesting article.
