editor
OK, New Posts and everything else should work now. Here's what I've noticed that's new:In My Settings you can choose how New Posts behaves -- does it show only new stuff, or all new stuff since you last visit (old HAIF style). In My Settings you can choose to have the results of New Post searches displayed like a forum (old HAIF style) or a list (new style). The front page sidebar now has a "What's on your mind?" box so you can update your status without having to go to your profile settings.is the font smaller? i like itI didn't change it, but that doesn't mean it's not different. I think it's too small, but I think I'll keep it this size so it's a little more friendly for people on netbooks and cheap laptops.

Highway6
I know some people are going to lose their minds over this, but let's try it anyway...User reputation is now displayed in threads. You may now lose your minds.Yah.. don't like it. Can see this leading to those with bad reps not posting anymore. Too in your face. It's one thing for someone reading a thread to click on the profile of someone they may disagree with to see what others think... its something else to have advertised with every post you make that nobody likes you or ever agrees with you. Might lead to people seeing red, and just instantly glossing over/ignoring.There are certain people i know that when they post, I know there will be a slim chance of me respecting the post, or agreeing with the post, even before reading it.... but they should at least have a fair chance to make their impression on new people that join. They should also have a fair chance in changing the minds of those that have rated them poorly, if they so desire... i think this will be much harder to do if everyone else is constantly reminded of their bad rep score.Also.. hate the new puke green. TheNiche
Anyone else agree or disagre? That was chosen to make the rating box less obvious. In its old colors it commanded too much attention.I completely agree with Highway6. Furthermore, I question the validity of a rep scoring system based on people's approval of individual posts. If that system is used to prevent "me too" or "f___ you" posts, that's fine. But to have it all aggregate seems like a method that lacks validity. And to rub HAIFers' noses in their level of popularity is just asinine. Besides, don't we already have a user ratings system? Redundancy? The old orange-yellow stars worked well design-wise and drew attention because they were a complimentary color to HAIFy blue. If you want something not to stand out, try using various shades of blues and grays. You might even get away with shades of blue that have a tad bit of purple or green, but where those aren't the dominant hues.I also don't like this feature that you enabled allowing people to give themselves a title above the user rank graphic. We already have "status" settings and the ability to use sigs. This seems redundant and is also oddly-placed. Just because we have the capability to enable the use of features does not mean that we necessarily should. RedScare
I wonder, are all these cute new features the reason that thread pages will not load, and sometimes the entire site freezes up? This has been going on for nearly 24 hours on multiple computers, so I know it is not my computer or ISP. I also note that crunch and others are having the same problem. Having neat features on a forum that will not load is akin to having GPS on a car that won't start. Just sayin'...

editor
I wonder, are all these cute new features the reason that thread pages will not load, and sometimes the entire site freezes up? No, it's more fundamental than that. But thanks for guessing. This has been going on for nearly 24 hours on multiple computers, so I know it is not my computer or ISP.As stated in another thread, if you want me to diagnose the problem you've got to give me more to go on. Fortunately, other HAIFers aren't just complaining, they're working with me to help track down the problem.I also note that crunch and others are having the same problem.I noted that, too.Having neat features on a forum that will not load is akin to having GPS on a car that won't start. Click on your name, then My Settings and you'll see at the bottom of the page a place where you can change it to the old method. Just set the "View New Content Method" to "Show me all content that I have not read."And be sure to click the [save Changes] button to save the setting. I have some other things to work on first. Integrating it into the new system is considerably different/harder than the old system. Also, I still haven't decided where to show the map, since people were pretty unhappy about losing 22 pixels at the top of the screen. I'm considering putting it after the first post of each page, or possibly making it super tiny and putting it under the breadcrumb bar.

IronTiger
In fact, I'm almost certain now that as soon as one makes a second reply on a thread, BAM! The previous reply you made is no longer editable. I can currently edit the "I was in another topic which I started and..." but when I press "Post"......wait, it's still editable for now! I can still foresee this for being a problem when one wants to use their first post as an index for the thread. No profile/message view/use/edit.Haif Now is good.. but only solves half those issues.Actually, I feel the opposite way -- the new iPhone version is MUCH better than the old one. With the old one you could only read messages, and then only in text as a generic user. With the new one you can log in, view most pictures in threads, start new topics, reply to threads, look at profiles, blogs, galleries, and more. It's really a vast improvement. No, there is no messenger. I'm not sure why that is.I didn't realize there's no "View new." Since you can log in, it makes sense that View New should be possible. I'll see if I can add it.Remember, HAIF Mobile is stripped down because not everyone on a mobile device has a wifi connection. Most people are accessing it at EDGE speeds, with the remainder divided equally between 3G and GPRS. If you have a fat connection for your iPhone, then you can switch over to the full version of HAIF and use all the regular features.
