Biggest thing I missed when I moved north. Houston is just so *green* year round. People talk about how the extra sunlight down south helps the mood, but they sleep on how signs of natural life are pretty important too.

I was on vacation in Southern CA a couple weeks ago and it was super green from all the recent rain. My wife is from there and kept telling me how it is usually brown and we are lucky to see so much green. I just get used to green here but it is the same when visiting Denver and all the brown vegetation matches the brown buildings.

Appreciate you accommodating the previous request for a clearer shot of the helipad.

I do hope the penthouse has good soundproofing though. Regardless of how often it is used, that could be annoying.

In the Houston Business Journal article linked on page 27 (and quoted above), there is this about retail tenants planned for Lifestyle Pavilion at 1755 Allen Pkwy (or 1701 Allen Parkway):

"The company has not yet named the building's other tenants, which include two restaurants, but additional tenant announcements are expected this fall. One of the restaurants will have a rooftop terrace, the company said."

 https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2022/10/20/dc-partners-texans-fit.html

I think in addition to contemporary Mexican steakhouse Toca Madera, the other restaurant possibly planned for the Lifestyle Pavilion at the Allen is Maizon.

Maizon is a Mediterranean dining concept from Los Angeles-based hospitality and lifestyle company Noble 33 (more about the concept from What Now NYC). The company is also involved in expanding Toca Madera in partnership with the Madera Group.

Noble 33 previously disclosed plans to expand concepts from the Madera Group (which include Toca Madera). Additionally, the company also hopes to introduce their own concepts in various cities, including Houston.

I'm not a hundred percent certain Maizon is leasing space in the mixed-use development. It's possible Noble 33 could open Maizon elsewhere. However, the restaurant along with Toca Madera are coming soon to Houston, according to Noble 33's website.

There is also this on the site:

"Noble 33 is a hospitality and lifestyle company with an ever-evolving lineup of unique, social dining restaurants stateside and abroad, Noble 33 leads the management and continued expansion of iconic brands Toca Madera and Casa Madera, while also developing brand new concepts such as Sparrow Italia and Maizon Mediterrania that will further expand the boundaries of high-energy fine-dining. Future targets for new locations include West Hollywood, Houston, New York, and Miami."

https://www.noble33.com/

More details about Maizon's Houston location will likely be announced after the winter holidays.

So, my hunch last month was right. I suspected Maizon / Maizon Mediterrania restaurant is likely opening at the Allen Lifestyle Pavilion ( 1775 Allen Parkway ).

Begrudgingly, I emailed CultureMap's food editor about this last month. I'm not sure if the editor followed up on this or not. Still, as suspected, he sat on the news of Toca Madera for whatever reason.

Noble 33 is betting big on the Houston market by opening Maizon and Toca Madera here. I hope they're successful.

We know Maizon / Maizon Mediterrania restaurant is one of the two restaurants to sign on at the four-story Pavilion at The Allen / The Allen Lifestyle Pavilion. However, some here, including myself, weren't sure which floor it will occupy.

According to plan review comments, Maizon will occupy the fourth floor. The address provided is 1775 Allen Parkway, Suite 401.

Last fall, Houston Business Journal reported the Allen Lifestyle Pavilion is fully leased. There was also this nugget about one of the dining tenants:

"One of the restaurants will have a rooftop terrace, the company said."

 https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2022/10/20/dc-partners-texans-fit.html

Maizon is the referenced restaurant.

Select details about Maizon from the plan review comments:

  • Maizon Mediterrania - 1755 Allen Pky #401

  • Proposed: 7,858 sf. restaurant buildout

  • Scope of work includes indoor and patio dining, bar seating

Noble 33 is going with a different name for its forthcoming Mediterranean restaurant.

Instead of Maizon /  Maizon Mediterrania, the new name is Meduza / Mēdüzā Mediterrania.

Mēdüzā / Meduza Mediterrania is leasing the fourth floor unit in The Allen Lifestyle Pavilion. The address is 1755 Allen Parkway, Suite 401.

Renderings for the rooftop patio for Meduza. Beautiful!

Culturemap states it will be on the building's top floor, but I think they meant the 4th based on previous posts?

The Pavilion is 4-stories so the 4th floor is the top floor. And about a fourth of it is an outdoor patio.

Am I crazy, or is that picture cropped somehow?  I don't see the Wells Fargo building or 1100 Louisiana.  Perhaps they are hidden by the window divider, but it seems to jump from Allen Center to Pennzoil, and One Allen Center appears to be right across from City Hall.  Maybe it's the angle . . . .

In recent weeks, Thompson Houston, the hotel at The Allen, included details about the three on-site restaurants. There will also be lobby coffee shop and cafe.

Thompson Houston is a Hyatt brand hotel. It's estimated to open this fall.

Building permits list the address for the hotel as 1711 Allen Parkway. However, Thompson Houston's website lists two other addresses: 1701 Allen Parkway and 1717 Allen Parkway.

Details from the website:

  • Yet-to-be-named lobby coffee shop and cafe

Whether you’re kickstarting your day or need an afternoon pick-me-up, stop by our café for the perfect sip.

Earlier this week, Houston Chronicle's paywall-free site Chron reported on The Thompson / Thompson Houston's forthcoming coffee shop.

Named Maven / Maven Coffee Co., the coffee shop and cafe will be located in the lobby of the hotel. It's one of several food and beverage options opening in the hotel. The coffee shop is from Houston Astros pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. and Juan Carlos Martinez de Aldecoa (Eximus Coffee).

Located in The Allen mixed-use development, Maven aims to open in November (at least that's what's indicated on Maven's website and social media).

Building permits lists the address for Maven as 1711 Allen Parkway Floor 1. However, the address on Thompson Houston's website lists 1701 Allen Parkway.

Wow, nice shots, cityliving! This building looks awesome, it’s cool how it kind of melts into the horizon like that. It’s a unique building, it’s kind of retro and futuristic at the same time. It will be really neat once they’re done.

Stay safe and cool out there!!

It's nice to see some positive comments. So many cynical comments all the time on HAIF.
