Vote for Houston in Travel + Leisure Magazine

Recommended Posts

It's probably for the best that we don't make the list since we'd come in last place in the actual voting. I'd rather have Houston be omitted than bashed.

Here's the thing, Houston isn't a hip town to visit and that's fine by me. I got annoyed in Boston with Duck Tours and Trolley Tours and gawking 8th graders.

When I began working downtown again about two years ago, I was sort of surprised by the number of tourist walking around. Most appear to be European. I'm guessing that with a weak dollar and our relatively inexpensive offerings, that it could be quite a bargain. Cheap theater, arts, food, hotels, etc... I'd be interested in knowing the impression of Houston from those across the pond. As stated on here somewhere else, the English apparently luv it. What about Germans and Swedes, et al?

Another thing, like Kinkaid said, if it's off the list then it can't get bashed.

I remember a poll about a year ago, it may have been Travel and Leisure, I'm not sure, in which the readers voted for the cities which they thought had the ugliest people. Dallas rounded off the top three.

I agree with most points made. Makes sense Dallas would be on the list... but Austin? Sorry, but that's the one that should be taken off (and I can speak as a former resident). Besides, they already San Antonio on there.

And where you can vote Houston back into the running (you can just vote for Houston... doesn't have to be 5) :
