Amlaham
Random, but what going to happen to that billboard facing Montrose? Will it come down, because if not, wont it be completely obstructed by the building?

My guess is it’ll come down because presumably the new landowners (Big-Tex Storage) have no reason to lease it out. Now if only the Clear Channel-owned billboard further east of Woodrow came down... No reason, other than revenue, I suppose. A few reasons we can (unfortunately) expect it to stay: (1) Additional revenue for Big-Tex. (2) The billboard owner probably has a lease/easement to which Big Tex's ownership is subject. (3) If it was going to come down, it seems likely it would have been demolished along with the building. clutchcity94
Are there any recent renderings of what this will look like when finished? Based on the photos in the other thread for the new Big-Tex Storage on 11th St in the Heights, it looks like Big-Tex’s design aesthetic varies quite a bit from location to location. I hope 4503 Montrose looks more like the 11th St location than the Richmond & Hazard location. In fact, the 4503 Montrose location should look better than both given its prominent visibility from 59. hindesky
They don't have this one on their website but they have the one in Garden Heights, Montrose Richmond and the one on Weslayan. The new one in the Heights has a broken link but says it will open in March. I have a feeling it will look like the one on Ella due to the land layout. https://www.bigtexstorage.com

clutchcity94
Given that this Big Tex location will essentially be in the Museum District and has high visibility from 59, any chance we think they’ll spend a bit more on the design to make it look nicer than your typical storage facility? Eado Storage comes to mind…it’s not a bad looking building. 4

HAIF is an architectural forum, a place where people are encouraged to obsess over buildings and the effect they have on Houston. 2. Yes, it is ethical, and I cannot imagine why it wouldn't be. 8

It's not like someone is breaking in to each property and stealing valuable information. You can take as many pictures as you want of private property from the public ROW.
