Random, but what going to happen to that billboard facing Montrose? Will it come down, because if not, wont it be completely obstructed by the building?

My guess is it’ll come down because presumably the new landowners (Big-Tex Storage) have no reason to lease it out.

Now if only the Clear Channel-owned billboard further east of Woodrow came down...

No reason, other than revenue, I suppose.  A few reasons we can (unfortunately) expect it to stay:

(1) Additional revenue for Big-Tex.

(2) The billboard owner probably has a lease/easement to which Big Tex's ownership is subject.

(3) If it was going to come down, it seems likely it would have been demolished along with the building.

The previously posted site plan confirms that it will remain:

Are there any recent renderings of what this will look like when finished? Based on the photos in the other thread for the new Big-Tex Storage on 11th St in the Heights, it looks like Big-Tex’s design aesthetic varies quite a bit from location to location.

I hope 4503 Montrose looks more like the 11th St location than the Richmond & Hazard location. In fact, the 4503 Montrose location should look better than both given its prominent visibility from 59.

Given that this Big Tex location will essentially be in the Museum District and has high visibility from 59, any chance we think they’ll spend a bit more on the design to make it look nicer than your typical storage facility? Eado Storage comes to mind…it’s not a bad looking building.

What's the obsession??

Is it even ethical to post so many pictures of someone else's property on social media???

This entire forum is devoted to development. And where do ethics come in to play here?  It's not like someone is breaking in to each property and stealing valuable information. You can take as many pictures as you want of private property from the public ROW.

1. HAIF is an architectural forum, a place where people are encouraged to obsess over buildings and the effect they have on Houston.
2. Yes, it is ethical, and I cannot imagine why it wouldn't be.

You’d think today’s OP switched handles with you with that comment LOL

Will this place have street-only parking or a lot? I wonder if the billboard next to it overlooking 59 will stay for the long run.

CoH requirements are 1 off-street parking spot per 50 storage units.
