I was doing a web search to find out more on the building when I ran across your post, so I figured I'd chime in.

I've been watching them put up the building for over a year now, and I think they have finally completed construction (my office window faces the construction site).

The building is definitely not 14 stories, but more like 3.

Hold on and I'll take a cell phone pic.

Here you go (yes, I know my phone's camera is horrible).

Not sure if this is the right place to put this...

Granite Properties will break ground within the next 60 days on a speculative office building in Houston's Westchase submarket, the commercial real estate investment and management company said Monday.

Granite Briarpark Green, a 300,000-square-foot, 12-story, Class A office building, will be located at 3141 Briarpark Drive. Situated on a 4-acre site, the building will be adjacent to the existing Briarpark Green building owned by PGAL Architects.

It's true, though I am not sure about the schedule. HOAR Construction is handling it. The project consist of a 316,300 GSF, twelve story core and shell office building and a 361,110 GSF, 6 level parking garage.

I drive by this building each week and it tickles me that the there's a sign in front designating HOAR as the general contractor.  Makes me wonder if a bordello is part of the "amenities".  :P

Seriously, though, does anyone know how the folks at "HOAR" actually pronouce the name?  I can't imagine that they use the phonetic pronouciation.

Latest Update - http://www.granitebriarparkgreen.com/#gallery

I really like the style of this building! Surprised it hasn't received more attention from forumers.

Hoping more of these buildings with some architectural detail get built in Houston during the next few "boomtown" years vs the standard (boring) striped beige precast stone/blue-ish gray glass office buildings proliferating H-town today.

It's no farther out that City Center which gets plenty mentions, but I do realize City Center is an entire new urbanist district and Briarpark Green is a single 12 story office building.

Actually I just think many are unaware of this building because it doesn't sit right on the freeway, so it's kinda hidden.

I like it also because it will have a 7 story night-time lighting feature. http://www.granitebriarparkgreen.com/#home

Agreed, but a significant portion of the City Centre thread revolves around the "why wasn't this built inside the loop?" discussion.

I understand your point, but I don't think that there's a lot of doubt that most discussion in this forum revolves around buildings inside the loop.

I don't consider these buildings unworthy of notice, just more difficult to notice.

But when i'm out west eating asian food, drinking boba, or shopping for JackFruit I swing through the mean streets of Westchase to check out the buildings.

And that 12 story building next door to squatty has another thread.

Well this IS the "BriarPark Green" thread - the other one is a more general "Westchase Development" thread.

Maybe the moderator can combine the threads?

Funny - I had considered the 3-story "squatty" as no more than a demonstration project for the 12-story building. In fact the first 3 floors of both will pretty much be identical..., still I've always like the style of the 3-story building because its different than many other cheapish modern office buildings going up in Houston right now - it just looks like no expense was spared.
