Houston And Texas Central Railway Company (H&TC)

Sure wish Austin had preserved one or both depots that once sat diagonally across Congress Ave. from one another.

International And Great Northern Railroad (I&GN) depot (for Missouri Pacific (MP) trains) was a solid stone structure that had an imposing turret attached. It was last used around 1948 before the current (Amtrak ) depot was built for Missouri Pacific trains.

Houston And Texas Central Railway (H&TC) depot (for Southern Pacific (SP) and Katy trains) was a solid two-story stone edifice. The latter was demolished in the 1960s.

Carmelo's Restaurant in East Austin is supposedly an even older depot antedating the two I just mentioned.
