Avossos
I'm beginning to get the feeling that soon, along all the major thoroughfares, every lot that was "underutilized" west and southwest of downtown will have 6-8 story apartments right up on the minimum easement. It is an interesting mini-canyon effect, West Avenue (I think its called) on Kirby/Westheimer is the first example that comes to mind, but they seem to be popping up. Not a value judgment either way, I can take or leave them personally. Just an interesting aesthetic that is very different from what was there before. Oh, it is destined to happen. Density goes up, vertical utilization will increase. Hope all the neighborhoods are somehow protecting themselves... i don't mind seeing main roads density, but at what cost to the historic homes? Hopefully we can have both. What a cool / unique form of urbanism when there are nice homes with yards, walking distance from high density mixed use complexes. People could technically have it all? a residential street walkable to stacked retail / grocery / restaurants? I think it sounds great! Keep parks in the mix and Houston has a bright future. Someday people will realize that the old train ROW's that are being used as hike and bike trails in Heights and Riverside Terrace are a priceless asset to the community.
jmitch94
^ I will soon be using the Columbia Tap trail to commute to UH on bike once I move in January. These can really be a huge asset.

Twitter1
Loving this.. Fits the area, and as I predicted.. Quote It sparks further development and repairs in the general vicinity. Business remodels and new paint jobs. Landscape beautification, and street repairs, etc. Definitely not a stagnate area.

Twitter1
Got both signage before one of them disappeared! Re: Palace Bowling Lanes next door Per Swamplot? the tenant did not pay their rent so they were locked out of the property. Not very welcoming to have a junky, empty lot next door to Class-A apartments. of course litter is accumulating down the sidewalk from Alexan Southside Place Edited July 24, 2017 by Twitter1

Highrise Tower
The Bellaire Building signage is still up, months after residents have moved in. Do they not own the land or sign? Would have thought it would have been removed last year. Looks like it's on the bowling alley property? Which the tenant was locked out of. The storage building next door to this isn't bad looking. Will try to get photos later this week. Not apart of the thread but nothing was created for the project.
