Arivechi
I'm wondering if there's anywhere in the Houston area where you can rent plastic bins or boxes for moving. I would like to avoid buying a stack of cardboard boxes for an in-town (<6 miles) move. I'm thinking of a service similar to this one. Ideas? editor
An interesting idea, but he's thinking too small. Sure, the DIY mover is a big segment, but he should be selling these to moving companies that pack your stuff for you so they can offset the carbon generated by the moving trucks. Or go in between and start an eco-friendly moving company franchise.

Northwood
I believe www.rentacrate.com serves the Houston area.
jm1fd
As was previously mentioned, why don't you just go dumpster diving for cardboard boxes? That's probably the most environmentally friendly way to do it. Liquor stores (as previously suggested) as well as clothing stores usually have the best quality boxes 'round back.
