Houston Pavilions, now Green Street

Recommended Posts

Yeah, I think that's it! That's the first place I'm going when I get back in the coming months!

By the way, Page 17. Damn!

Welcome To Page 17

I don't care at this time what stores will get put into the new mall but I only care that it becomes a reality.

Here is the webiste for one of the partners in the project, Entertainment Development Group. The good news is that they have the Houston project listed under the projects section. The bad news or just slightly odd is that it is a website for their Korean counterpart. It seems that most of the development they have done is overseas. They noted somewhere that the US site is under construction...time will tell.

How many times have we hard the word soil samples? :P

Thanks for the update.

Yea. The phrase "soil samples" equates with "Scamrock".

Pavillions passes the smell test for real, though.

I cant wait...

Mmm... Pret would be great! I was shocked last week to see one in NYC -- I had no idea they had any locations in the US. From their website it looks like the only US locations so far are in NYC. But it's definitely a concept I could see working in downtown Houston. The food is super fresh and delicious, and it makes a very good affordable take-out lunch.

I used to eat at the Pret on Broad Street in NY when I worked in the Financial District. It would do very well serving the professional crowd in downtown Houston for lunch. I know that too many of us get sick of eating Ninfa's and Treebeards twice a week. Dont get me wrong, I love both restaurants, but Pret is just a teeeeny bit healthier.

I went to lunch with my brother today. He works across the street from these 3 parking lots. They were drilling soil samples in the lots when I left.

They took soil samples for the shamrock a few years ago. Apparently the samples told them to never build.

Editor should create a new section in way off topic called "fantasy" where we can dump threads like shamrock, pavillions, and camden superblock. . .

Today is the Big Day; but, I am not holding my breath!!

You Know me too! I am not holding my breath anymore! I have been very positive so far, but now if this going to happen they just need to come out with it and say it to the public with bigg letters:

"THESE ARE THE STORES WE WILL HAVE AT THIS LOCATION. WE ARE STARTING CONSTRUCTION ON THIS DAY. WE WILL BE FINISHED ON THIS DAY."

So far reading this thread and the news papers has been as revealing as watching and episode of LOST or 24.

I have been searching news papers and stations to see if there's any press releases yet. So far no luck.

Last time they a big announcement

Next week should be a good week!

The news about the land purchase was a few days to a week off from what we expected.

So I'm giving it some time before I dismiss it.

The land was sold and Central Parking no longer owns the lots. If this project doesn't get built, then something else will. Any development in a horizontal direction--anything other than a parking lot--should be considered progress.

Let us not forget that there is a 10-year leasing agreement b/w Central Parking and EDG. I couldn't imagine a firm signing a 10-year lease on a parking garage before they were absolutely sure they were going ahead with construction.

I'm completely naive when it comes to large commercial real estate deals. I have to guess though that there is a lot of negotiation going on with lots of money at stake. I don't think satisfying your, or my timetable is priority number 1 right now.

Agreed. However, we should invite one of their reps to begin participating in this thread. Maybe when they realize all of the interest and anxiety that exists, they'll be moved to make an announcement! Yeah! That's it!....

The 10 year lease agreement is a good positive sign.

There's a good buzz, good buzz....

so a little birdie told me to pick up the Chronicle this wednesday and watch the news broadcats b/c the plans will be announced. (Jan 25th)

You can't just post something like that and expect people to believe you.

I at least I posted the email response I received from the guy on their website

We will be having a major announcement about the project on January 19th, with other major tenant announcements to follow shortly thereafter. I apologize for not being able to give you any more information now, but we wanted everything buttoned up before giving out the details, which is certainly out of the norm for large real estate projects. Since the Houston Pavilions is such a large project, we wanted to diminish the naysayers with everything in place. Thanks for your interest in the project.

Bill Denton

If we haven't heard any major anouncements by the 26th I'll email Mr Denton to see what he has to say.

Edit: Just sent another email to Mr Denton today the 23 Jan

We had to reschedule to the 25th.

I don't really care if anyone believes me. I was just trying to add what i was told to the conversation.

I think what HII was getting at was. People on this forum try to post legitimate information and try to discuss it in a mature manner. Information is usually from a credible source. If some one's not sure or thinks it's just hearsay that person would say so and some one will try to confirm or dismiss it. I believe he was trying to get you to elaborate on your "little birdie" to cut down on hearsay and gossip.

It came straight from the horse's mouth, or if i need to elaborate, Mr Denton. I asked a friend involved with the project and afterwards I e-mailed Mr. Denton. Anyone can contact him and inquire, i'm confident you'll get the same answer I did. His e-mail is listed on the homepage for the pavillions.

From Pret:

Thanks so much for your comments, and your enthusiastic offer to help! We are working hard to grow, but unfortunately right now we are staying in New York. If we venture out south we will make sure to let you know. Thanks again for your comments.

Oh, this must be the "mature way to discuss projects" that i was told we need to maintain since my "little birdie" comment caused so much distress. A simple "Denton has changed the dates a few times" would of sufficed perfectly.

I am afraid our sterotype may be working against us.

This place could print a mint if they came to Houston.

Look out for some great news tomorrow or the next day!

Yeah that's what Mr Denton said in his latest email (above). He had mentioned it moved from the 19th to the 25th. With both of you saying this I'm sure tomorrow or the next is the big announcement. Thanks for the heads up :)

Along with the anouncement I just really want to see some detailed streetlevel and sidewalk renderings where people are walking out the shops and everything.

Hi Everyone,

I've been visiting this forum for a while, but this is my first post. Anyways, it looks like they really will make a big announcement tomorrow, based on the Chronicle.

Sweet! Exactly what they need. A big name nationally, that is unavailable anywhere else in town, that will draw people to the center from all over town.

I like the thought of blues in downtown. Nothing against hip-hop, but Downtown was starting to get typecast as only hip-hop. Those of us who don't live for it have few other nightlife options.

I look forward to more of these announcements.

Will this be the first actual House of Blues in Texas? I've never been, but I've been told I have to go to their Sunday Gospel Brunch, I guess that is something they're famous for. And if they're gonna be calling Galveston the "Little Easy", they why shouldn't there be a House of Blues around as well!

It is their first HOB, though, according to their website, they appear to own or operate the Fair Park Amphitheater in Dallas.
