You ate Gerber baby good when you were nine?

I once had a girlfriend who at 19 years of age ate baby food, too. Someone at her gym told her it was the only way to get all the nutrition a person needs. For some reason she believed it.

She also couldn't go to bed until she washed her feet. Twice. She had other problems, too.

I'm going to assume you broke up.

I tried a McRib once in November 2007. It was good, but it had a strange softness...like salisbury steak.

I'm surprised Top Secret Recipes doesn't have it. Oh well...at least they have Orange Julius.

You just said the magic words: vienna sausage! This is as white trash as it comes. My favorite sandwich as a child was vienna sausages, sliced lengthwise--very important-- layered with miracle whip and potato chips on good old Rainbo bread. Mmmmm, good.

you forgot the other "mystery meat" - potted meat...

mrs. baird's bread, miracle whip (has to be the real thing) with chips on the side...

Mmmmmmm...

This weekend I had an idea for a new grocery store. It would sell everything Whole Foods won't sell: preservatives, artificial colors and flavorings, heavily processed and refined foods. I would build one next to every Whole Foods and call it "Food Hole".

Am I wrong, or did you just describe every convenience store, quickie mark, and gas station?

Kind of, but this would be big and fancy. And I can't reliably find chocolate fried pies anymore. Where's my damn fried pies?

Got one at 7-Eleven a couple of weeks ago. Man was that good. It'd been so long since I had one I'd forgotten about them until I saw it on the rack.

No..Gardenburger riblet at the grocery store...go try one...they are great.

I've had some of the Gardenburger chicken replacement patties that were very good. The hamburgers... not so much.

I'll keep an eye out for riblets.

Houston still has no 7-Elevens. The Stop-n-Gos generally have the fruit filled fried pies, but the chocolate ones are rare. In the 80s, all the grocery stores I visited had big tables full of them near the bread. At some point I think coronary disease caught up with enough of the fried pie consumers to make them not worth selling anymore.

It's back again! The McRib! ... I noticed last year they starting phasing it out about this time... I wonder if the phasing of this delicious processed pork product has been pushed into the Dec - Feb timeframe vs. Oct -Dec of last year? Anyone have any data points? I am happy again, for now. Until they take it away. =(

To hell with the McRib, let's talk about the fried pies mentioned above.
