TXADMOM Posted September 2, 2008 Share Posted September 2, 2008 I had heard that many homes in River Oaks built fallout shelters during the Cold War. My husband thinks that there is absolutely no truth to this. Subdude Posted September 2, 2008 Share Posted September 2, 2008 I couldn't speak specifically to River Oaks, but why would he think they were not built there? I thought a lot of people who could afford it built fallout shelters back then. In high school a friend's house had a fallout shelter. The photo was, apparently, taken in the 1950s. Wow!! So much development has taken place is such a short amount of time!
