sifuwong
Kinda stunned. Still have power....knock on wood. Think it will be a matter of time before i lose it. Rain coming hard again after letting up for a few minutes.
lockmat
Fell asleep, now up again Not sure how long I want to stay awake though. The winds have picked up and I periodically hear stuff hitting the roof and back windows; just waiting for some tall pines to fall on us. Is it me or is this the slowest moving hurrican EVER?! RedScare
Tim Heller at 13 is tracking a direct hit on Galveston, then up 45 to a direct hit on downtown, then crossing 45 and going through the Heights.Have fun! The good stuff gets here at 4 am!

RedScare
We might be getting the powerful sustained winds now. I can't tell because they keep dropping off. OK, I laughed. I take my humor where I find it.
westguy
I meant the beginning of them. I keep drifting in and out of sleep so I may have finished my post after a little nap.
Gooch
Just got back from a (very short) walk-about between squalls. HPD patrol told me to go home! Alot of people still have power, evidenced by the glow in the sky. A lot of people are losing power, evidenced by green flashes in the sky! Had a puff about an hour ago that caused the whole house to creak... eskeery... but still have power so I'm delighted!Fire is at Brennen's acording to KTRK. stilettoninja
There is a large fire in Downtown. It's Brennan's. Two people were transported to the hospital but the reporters on 13 are not sure to what extent.

texas911
12:41 in West U, still have power but have had it flicker a couple of times now. Worst is yet to come I'm afraid. Just strong scary gusts so far, none of the sustained 110 winds, yet. Hang in there everybody!
westguy
At the east end of Galveston, at least. I think the center will be well east of I45. Beaumint is going to get the worst of the storm.

westguy
Things are not looking good for Galveston. If there are lots of dead, I think we'll finally see the end of the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale. People see Ike - Category 2 and Alicia - Category 3 and assume the latter is stronger. Despite all the warnings, this is what these people focused on. It's kind of an antiquated system that can only accurately describe property damage from winds. RedScare
A friend reported power going out in Norhill. Wind gusts to 56 mph. I can hear transformers popping all around. Still got power here, though. I see we're losing HAIFers steadily, too. Dropped from 48 to 36 to 28 in less than an hour.
texas911
West U still here. Had lots of breaks in power but has come back one. So far. No power across the street. Been watching the sky for those awesome displays of green flashes. The are frequent. Still gusting. Should go to sleep but since the power is on, I'm watching TV. ATT Uverse still working!I wish people would fill out their location on the profile. Makes it easier.
