Both of those sound good!

Indeed. The possible Sof Hospitality concept has my attention.

After several changes with management and consultants, plus years long delays, I hope the wait for Lyric Market is worth it. I also wonder if there were design or layout changes since the previous renderings and site plan?

Lyric Market issued a press release today formally announcing food vendors for the food hall at 411 Smith St.

In addition to the ones listed above, here are the others:

  •  Sushi Muse: a sushi restaurant from chef Hiroki Odo, who holds a Michelin star at his New York City restaurant Odo.

  • Mexology: a plant-based Mexican restaurant from chef Ivy Stark, a New York City chef known for her restaurant Dos Caminos.

  • Bad Chx: a food hall version of a food truck that serves both Southern fried chicken and Nashville-style hot chicken.

  • An Israeli dining concept from Sof Hospitality.

Sof Hospitality's restaurants include Doris Metropolitan, Hamsa, and Badolina.

The name of the Israeli dining concept from Sof Hospitality is Alenbi. It's billed as "a plant-based Middle Eastern street food restaurant."

Culturemap answered my questions about the design and layout changes:

"It's worth nothing that plans for Lyric Market have been scaled down significantly since it was first announced in 2018. Back then, the plans called for between 20 and 30 vendors in 31,000-square-feet. Since then, a number of new food halls have opened, including Bravery Chef Hall, Finn Hall, and Post Market. "

Hospitality HQ, the operators behind food hall Lyric Market at 411 Smith posted a job listing a few days ago (it's no longer available). The post listed a couple of more food stall tenants that weren't announced last month:

"We are looking for multiple great individuals for a new food hall opening in downtown Houston...Some of the vendors include Horu Sushi, Lotties BBQ, Mission Burger, Khati Roll Wala, 1929 Po'Boys, Press Waffles, Bad Chix, Mexology and Alenbi."

I really like this food hall. I like that it’s not an open concept like the other ones in town instead it’s built more like a maze (horrible use of the word but I can’t come up with a better one). This is in no way a direct comparison but it reminds me of the Chelsea Market in NYC in that there’s a beginning  and an end point.   With that said it’s extremely small 😔. Does anyone know if they have plans to expand at a later date or is this pretty much it?

Photos of Lyric Market posted to Instagram in early November. The photos are from flooring business Floor Zone. Floor Zone installed flooring and tile work.

Lyric Market is the downtown Houston food hall at 411 Smith St.

Post from Instagram:

"Lyric Market Food Hall is an incredible space that we were thrilled to take part in creating. It is a culinary marketplace next to the iconic Lyric Tower on Louisiana St. that offers a unique dining experience as well as private event spaces. Our colorful tile work throughout the spaces lends character and creates an eclectic atmosphere that we are so proud to showcase here. We encourage you to visit, see our work in person and enjoy the food!"
