wxman
If using the same floor spacing as One Park Place, then 37-stories = 501 feet. Since this building is a few floors higher, it may very well push the 550' to 600' mark, yes? Edited October 24, 2013 by wxman
LTAWACS
Whaaa? Way to be vague.
nativehoustonion
I think it will taller than the Huntingdon. And of course more striking.
arche_757
I don't think the Huntingdon is ugly - very 1980s but not ugly. You can almost see the mirrored walls, and carpet in the units with the white w/ gold trimmed faux (or real) French styled furniture throughout. In actuality I'm sure it is quite chic in most units, as I do believe it is quite expensive (certainly in a nice neighborhood).
nativehoustonion
Yes right. I can see it from my window and it is ugly. You may live there how lucky.
arche_757
I don't live there. And of course we're all allowed an opinion.
nativehoustonion
How funny I can see it now, oh well. I would rather live at 2727 Kirby now one has the top floor for $14,000,000.

Geoff8201
I hope in 30 years or more the people who live in this building and others like it appreciate all the photography of its construction we are providing, as documentation of the urban growth and ever changing skyline.

cloud713
hard to tell but are they getting ready for cladding?
aarosurf
They're starting to build out the interior walls on the lower levels but I haven't seen any sign of putting in glass cladding yet.
cloud713
Oh nvm. I saw what looked like metal supports around the outer edges every few feet and thought it was for the cladding. Just drove by the site though and it definitely doesn't look like it.

jt16
I think I prefer the more spread out uptown view actually.
bobruss
It is nice but the downtown view will also have Greenway Plaza and the med center. Not to mention everything going up in between.
drecey
So I'm back home here in Houston visiting family and this building is going to be MASSIVE!!! I don't know if it's halfway done or just a little over, but if you double its size, I would go on and say that it will be the Transco of Greenway Plaza. (Even though it's technically not in GP). I damn near caused a wreck admiring its beauty. This is the reason why I usally park my car at a friend's and have them drive me around when I visit. Also, as I was enjoying my birthday weekend here, I noticed- HOUSTON HAS GROWN!!! Where are all of these people coming from? I asked my friends if there was some convention going on that weekend or something. Excuse the excessive use of capitilizaed letters and exclamations, I just LOVE THIS CITY!!!
arche_757
Well... Houston is the fastest growing major city in America thanks in part to the oil/energy boom happening all over the place due to the various shale oil finds. Houston is the center for almost all of those companies and as such its a place with a large amount of needed jobs. Besides that, the local economy wasn't as damaged by the recession and we've been attracting out of state workers by the truck-load. We're actually just starting to see the signs of large scale growth.
treblelino
The building is almost halfway to the top.

aarosurf
They've started to add glass cladding, at least to the west side that I could see this morning. Will try to put up pictures later.
