Houston Trivia Game

Recommended Posts

Since we are paused for Musicman to return.. I shall fill the empty space not with trivia, but a Houston math problem.

Car A and Car B are heading down 45 from Conroe. When they arrive at the loop (at the same time), Car A heads West at 50 mph and Car B heads East at 77 mph. There is no traffic or weather to slow either car down, but Car A does lose exactly 5 minutes along the way when he stops for gas.

How long till they meet up again and at what closest major intersection ?

It will take about 19 minutes and 54 seconds and they will end up a little bit south of the West Loop/Southwest Fwy interchange, near where Sycamore St. hits the West Loop.

This is assuming that they do it at about 3 AM though, otherwise it will probably take them more like an hour and they will meet up somewhere around Westheimer.

Close.. got the time right, pretty much, you're off on the intersection by close to 2 miles though.

Here's one to decipher...

What book, locally published in 1996, claims that it "encourages you to discover the everyday pleasure of sitting around the table with those you love, experiencing the joy of remembrance and the promise of renewal."

What wealthy Houstonian had the first ever air conditioned automobile, and when?

Hint: it was a custom job by a refrigeration company and predated the introduction of factory air by several years.

The prosecutor? I don't get it.

to quote kelly "To start with, he's a member of Lakewood Church. And we have had a running agreement .... that people who go to Lakewood are screwballs and nuts... I'm very familiar with that church. We try our hardest not to put anybody who goes to Lakewood regularly on any jury."

Sounds familiar and sounds like a cookbook. Maybe written by someone like Carolyn Farb or Linda Lay?

You're on the right track, marmer.

It's the last sentence on the front cover flap of the award-winning Stop and Smell the Rosemary, the Houston Junior League cookbook published in 1996.

First Hall-Of-Fame Astro?

First air-conditioned car owner?

Bueller? Anybody?
