lockmat
That's great news if true. I wouldn't be surprised if another movie theatre is included in the development since the newer one has an age limit after a certain time. I was wondering if they were ever gonna do something with that corner lot where the rink usually goes.I hope some day in the future they tear down the mall and make something really great in its place. zaphod
So all the stuff they have built in TW looks lovely, but tell me why they persist in building each little development as a pod attached to 4-lane divided roads that are a pain to navigate? You have to get in your car, circle around the block, find another parking spot, just to go from one "walkable" development to another. "Master Planned" my ass. Those "master planners" should have taken a field trip to Bethesda, Maryland or White Plains, NY to learn how a REAL satellite urban center should look and feel on the street. H-Town Man
Well most of this developement is u/c, and the Condo Tower (1 Waterway Square Place) is 22 stories.Seriously? The Condo Tower and the Hotel are both u/c? That seems almost too good to be true.

photolitherland
^^^I dont think so since there was no room for it and all it was was a parking garage when I walked around it. I dont understand why they wouldnt put retail but most of the garage is along a road with no sidewalk and the entire front side with be covered up by the tower.
bachanon
it is supposed to have retail components facing lake robbins. it will extend the retail from hubbell & hudson east. so far, i'm not sure how they plan to make it look nice at street level. time will tell.the parking appears to be separate from the space that fronts lake robbins. citizen4rmptown
isnt 22 stories high enough to make a good mark on the "skyline".22 stories alone should make it the 2nd tallest building in the Woodlands...Have any renderings been posted on how it will look in the area?didnt feel like looking though the thread...sorry
lockmat
Is the residential tower under construction now?no. the parking garage next to where it will be is almost complete though. I'm not sure if the garage will be for it or the other buildings next to it. The sign I saw last week said it would be ready by 2011. America's is in the building that's already built on the left side of the rendering, correct?

invisibletrees
Hi, As you all know, the residential high-rise for Waterway Square is still an active project. The Woodlands is currently studying the best location and amenities for this development. When that research is complete, a start date as well as other details will be officially announced.

Urbannizer
Guess I'll post this here too. http://www.chron.com/neighborhood/woodlands/news/article/Growth-brings-new-housing-options-to-The-Woodlands-6020252.php Growth brings new housing options to The Woodlands As the population and business growth continues to skyrocket, The Woodlands is working to keep up with the growth by expanding housing options. *** In addition, the Howard Hughes Corp., parent of The Woodlands Development Co., is investigating a possible new 20-story high-rise condominium development in the Waterway District, said Paul Layne, executive vice president of master planned communities for The Howard Hughes Corp. The Howard Hugh Corp. has preliminary plans for the high-rise condo and is working to determine whether there is enough demand for the development. "We're really trying to determine the level of interest people would have," Layne said. "We've done some focus groups. We would like people to reach out to us if they have an interest, to let us know. It would have phenomenal amenities and a walkable lifestyle in the Waterway District."

Emerging, but not insignificant. Wait another decade or two and I'm sure we'll see plenty more condos just like this one fill up that vast mall parking lot creating a much more impressionable mass of buildings. The vast number of wealthy foreign nationals and retirees up in The Woodlands should flock to a product like this in hoards.

bachanon
...looks like somebody was right outside my office.the original condo tower design was rounded on the side facing the waterway. it would have given residences a wide angle view of waterway square; but, alas, as the woodlands is now a "wholly owned subsidiary of the howard hughes company" in DALLAS, we now get an easier to build cheaper building. truely...it doesn't suck, but round would have been a more appealing view for the residences. now that the westin is uglier...and ten waterway will also be a downgraded design, i guess it doesn't matter....my new fascination is east of downtown and inside loop 610. http://blog.chron.com/primeproperty/2015/02/woodlands-developers-planning-luxury-tower/

Houston19514
Irving has 32, guess it must have been several of them combined that got that high, remembered wrong. Ah, Ft. Worth has 70. Woodlands has 23. I highly doubt you'd get to 75 if you combined all of the mid-cities, unless they are working with a very short definition of high-rise. Even though the design isn't spectacular in any way, can we agree it will definitely be the modern kid on the block? Apart from the recent Anadarko Tower, every building that has gone up on or around the Water Way looks older than the first Anadarko Tower. Montrose1100
From "eh", to "m e h", to "bleh". It's certainly not the worst design on the waterway, and it does blend in with the late 90's early 2000's theme all the other buildings have.Edit: looks like they changed it from black (a pinch more modern), to brown.
