U.K.-based InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (NYSE: IHG) will open its 21-story, 353-room Intercontinental Houston Medical Center in late 2018. The hotel, which will share a lobby with a Greystar apartment development dubbed Latitude Med Center, will include 11,800 square feet of meeting space, a 7,800-square-foot ballroom and more. The joint apartment and hotel project, located at 6750 Main St., is being developed by Houston-based Medistar Corp. and TRC Capital Partners.

rechlin
This claims that construction has begun on the residential tower, too, but that it will only be 35 stories. Not sure if that's an error or if it's been downsized. http://www.multifamilybiz.com/News/7038/Greystar_Begins_Construction_on_35Story_Latitude_M... Level 36 is a roof. Level 37 is for elevator equipment. Level 38 is the high roof canopy over the elevator equipment room.   Edited July 19, 2016 by Screwston
Popular Post hindesky
Talked with some workers and they said the mat pour will happen early Sept. and they will have 2 tower cranes, one for the 38 story apartments and one for the 22 story hotel. The base for the apartments is up and the rebar for the other crane is not ready yet.
htownproud
Saw a sign today that Travis next to the site will be closed next weekend. Â I assume that's for the foundation pour or crane installment. Â

hindesky
Crawler crane is out of the pit but no mat pour this morning although Travis street was still closed.  I guess the threat of rain may have stalled the pour.

HoustonIsHome
I'm surprised that there have not been  even more hotel and residential construction in TMC since the 2008 economic recession. I know there have been a lot near Hermann Park, but in my nitpicking mind I call that cluster Museum District do in my mind They don't count. Same with those around Rice Village and the Southern Edge of Montrose.  Seemed like a perfect time for growth in those sectors. Does the relative lack of development in those areas due to stipulations in the TMC mission?  When I worked in TMC a lot of my coworkers commuted  from Pearland.  Another huge chunk took PT from south main or the Montrose area.  Let's hope that this leads to more residential and hotel in the area. It's crazy how much foot traffic happens during the day in TMC.
