The Post Oak Hotel At Uptown Houston At 1600 West Loop S.

This site has been used as a laydown site for the Astoria condos going up on Post Oak. The sign for development remains out on the property (and the Master Plan remains largely similar to what was indicated above).

Once the Astoria is complete, I wonder if we will see movement on this site--particularly with BHP Billiton and Amegy Bank building new headquarters nearby.

THe land is for sale but they are building a willie G's and a future hotel

Why would they build a Willie G's there unless Willie's was planning on moving? Like this...

:)

Anyone a regular patron that could ask staff what's the dilly?

I would be surprised if this site wasn't purchased already

Is something replacing the current Willie G's on Post Oak?  This little stretch of Uptown is getting crammed with towers.

it's on the market... not sure what the status is.

my understanding is the windhall apartments are under contract/sold to a multifamily developer as well.

Right behind the Astoria. I am already glad I do not commute to this area at rush hour as it is a nightmare to navigate. I agree that the Uptown and University lines make all the more sense to help move folks to the other business centers (it would be nice to take the rail to court instead of having to drive).

Looks like a great project but thank God I do not work in the Galleria area. This section of 610 is now one of the worst highways in Texas and there's still more development in the works. There has to come a time when the congestion just gets so bad that it actually prevents any further growth, right?

Traffic is indeed abysmal around here. I get in the office later in the morning and leave later in the evening to miss the worst of it. I refuse to leave the office during peak lunch hour to seek out places to eat in the area (huzzah brownbagging). The bulldozer from yesterday is not on site now (or at least not within view from my office). I will walk by in a little while to get a better look.

The proposals for Uptown just keep coming! It's going to have more density than downtown soon with all the 30 story towers going up or about to start! Gonna need more than just light rail with all the traffic though.

What? Uptown is no where near as dense as downtown and definitely won't have more density soon. Uptown has a lot of projects under construction, but downtown isn't sitting still. There are well over 30 under construction/proposed projects in downtown.

This is quickly becoming a very serious question with all of the development uptown and suburban style street grid that is already gridlocked. It seems like something will have to change with the streets at some point.

Or you know, this city could get with the times and build mass transit in the area. The streets are maxed out unless we build double decker streets now.

Plans are under way for a major development project next to the headquarters of Houston restaurant and casino chain Landry's and its luxury car dealership along the West Loop near Post Oak Boulevard.

The nine-acre property was the subject of a variance request made to the city of Houston's Planning & Development Department last week. A preliminary site plan submitted to the city shows the existing Landry's office building and Post Oak Motor Cars, along with several proposed buildings and a two-story conference center. The project name on the document is "1600 West Loop Hotel Building and Site."

Landry's, which owns the land through affiliates, is named on the document, as is the Gensler architecture firm.

Landry's chairman and CEO Tilman Fertitta declined to comment.

Mab had the lead on this earlier this year. Looks like we know what everything will look like with the exception of the hotel being taller.

Although it looks like this 3-acre tract they were marketing is now part of this new plan and won't be for sale now. The loss of another potential tower, darn.
