I think of it as a chance for Uptown to plug in the holes in its linear skyline. There's a gap between Williams Tower and US59 where those skinny beige stucco condo towers are. This will fill in that gap and because the site is basically just a field, this will densify Uptown.

Urbannizer
McNair, a long-term-hold investor that earlier this month announced a 1.2M SF mixed-use project in Uptown Houston, began picking up its real estate activity about six years ago by investing pretty passively, but now it is actively building and acquiring properties across sectors and in both infill and suburban areas. Real estate could grow to become up to 25% of McNair’s investment portfolio, Schwinger said, but for now the platform is young, and he likes the diversity of investments as it figures itself out. McNair plans a multifamily tower plus 80 luxury residences in a 150-room Rosewood Hotel in the unnamed 1.2M SF Uptown Houston mixed-use project. That development will take the lion’s share of McNair’s resources for some time, Schwinger said, but when it has cleared the pipeline, he expects the company might do other high-profile mixed-use. McNair will announce a general contractor, interior designer and brokerage team in the coming months. Schwinger is already getting a lot of calls for the office space even though it won’t deliver for another five years. SkylineView
The equipment is related to the Post Oak widening project. 3/4 of the site is used for storage / dump trucks / etc. The front side facing Post Oak is getting torn out, and will be eaten up as part of the PO project.
j_cuevas713
Went to Caracol in thr BBVA Compass building and Uptown is looking amazing! The new sidewalks, etc is really going to tie the area together. This development by McNair will really be icing on the cake.

Twinsanity02
It would be an unpleasant surprise if Mr. McNair greatly downgraded the former renditions. He is a Houston resident since 1960. My guess is he wants to leave a significant legacy in the city.

bobruss
On a more personal note. I'm sorry to hear of Mr. McNairs passing. Not only was he a great business man but he brought Houston a pro football team and a beautiful state of the art stadium. He was a great community leader and gave millions to Houston for Hospitals research and other community needs. He was a supporter of many Houston charities and he and his wife helped to raise awareness to many causes. Although he did make one awkward move with his comment about his players he was a well respected member of the NFL owners group and he will be missed by Houstonians. I wish there were more like him who would choose to share their wealth and knowledge with the less privileged. That being said I think the post oak /Richmond project was being developed by his son as the main driving force. I believe it will continue to be developed. SkylineView
My office overlooks the site. All four quadrants are being used (extensively) as a holding area for the Post Oak work. PO @ Richmond is supposed to re-open in May, but I can't imagine they will be able to move all the stuff out of there until the full Blvd is a bit further along.

Popular Post hindesky
While at the Preston parking garage demo I talked with a Harvey worker who said they have the contract for the second tallest building. Construction is expected to start next year and lots of the workers building the Camden Conte will transition over to it, including him. He said this will be a 7 year long project but didn't know if they won contracts on all the buildings. 9
