Trae
That's exactly like the one in suburban Northwest San Antonio, except that one has 20-screens and two-IMAX screens.
ProHouston
That's exactly like the one in suburban Northwest San Antonio, except that one has 20-screens and two-IMAX screens.I thought the same thing. Santikos is based in SA. Does anyone know if this is their first foray outside SA?
MyEvilTwin
Opens today!http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/5580098.htmlExcerpt:Houston's newest, the Silverado IMAX, opens today on Texas 249 near Tomball. The lavish, $30 million, 5,000-seat complex seeks to duplicate the success the Santikos Theater chain has had with its first luxury theater, the Palladium in San Antonio. "That's the busiest theater in Texas, and usually in the top 10 nationally," said Richard Cieplechowicz, the small chain's director of business development. In the year since the Palladium opened, more than 1.5 million people have visited it, he said. The 100,000-square foot Silverado will have a Western theme (instead of the Palladium's Greek theme) and 19 stadium-style auditoriums with digital projection and sound and plush, rocker seats with reserved-seating in several auditoriums on weekends.Full text here. wakester
Took my kids Saturday to see Spiderwick on the IMAX. They did not tell anyone that the IMAX and some of the other theaters are assigned seats. Some people started to get upset and the manager gave everyone free IMAX passes. They better do a better job explaining the assigned seat policy or it could get ugly. I could see someone getting their tickets and then eating dinner and showing up right before the movie. If everyone is just sitting in any seat it could become a mess. REALaw
How does the assigned seating system work? Do you get to choose? Or does the system automatically assign seats at the time of purchase?

jimcas
What a dumb system for a movie theater.Assigned Seating at a movie theater? I wonder if the genius who came up with the system at Willie's Grill & Icehouse (where you order upfront and then confirm your order with a waitress 10 seconds later) is somehow responsible for this one too...
