Q: How Can I Help HAIF?

I'm often asked what people can do to help out HAIF.

We do not accept monetary donations, and most people when they say "help" they don't mean actually cracking open their wallets anyway.

But there is something you can do that's quick, easy, and free. You can take the demographic survey.

There's not too much to it -- just age, gender, education and a few other questions. Nothing personally identifying, though. All answers are kept private and the only numbers produced are aggregates like "30% of HAIFers are between the ages of 25 and 40."

Why does it matter? Because the more people who fill it out, the more our advertising brokers will understand who the HAIFers are. If we get enough responses, the quality of the advertisements displayed on HAIF improves. Not only is that easier on the eyes, it usually means they pay better, and that leads to faster servers, more contests and giveaways, and more features I can purchase for HAIF.

So, if you haven't done it already, fill in the demographic survey. It doesn't take a lot of time, and can really make a difference to the forum.

After that post, I got some interesting follow-up questions from the HAIF gang. So I'll answer them here:

The demographic survey does not affect Google-supplied ads. It only affects ads supplied by Burst! Media. But if we get more/better Burst! ads, they bump out the Google ads.

Also, some people asked if they can see what the results of the survey are. It's your data, so I don't see why not. The demographic survey is an ongoing process, so I can show you what the results are for the last 12 months:
