Brooklyn173
Looking north. Seems the bottom will be that aluminum wall and then open above and than a retractible roof.
Brooklyn173
Pleasantly surprised that the walls will be mostly glass. Edited July 3, 2020 by Brooklyn173

BeerNut
https://abc13.com/6336926/ Quote Houston may have a few rooftop bars, but none of them are quite like Rise Rooftop - a new nightclub slated to open in either late summer or early fall (assuming bars are allowed to be open). Formerly Proof, the 10,000-square-foot venue will feature a retractable roof. Installed at a cost of $1 million, the structure is 150 feet long and 45 feet wide.

I talked with a developer this week and they mentioned that they had been offered several of the Cadillac lots, but for big money, so it didn't make sense for their type of project. Like $200+ psf. I did read about how Cadillac was offering to buy back the franchises because they are switching to all EV by the end of the decade. Maybe we'll get lucky.
Tumbleweed_Tx
btw, the address for Rise is 2600 Travis, not 801 McGowan. The only thing that has to do with McGowan street is the ramp you drive up to unload your equipment to play there is on that street. Does anyone have old phone books from the 60's and can look up to see what car dealership was at that address starting in 1961ish?

IntheKnowHouston
Does anyone know if 2600 Travis St, Suite 100 is leased? The suite was the former home of Bryan Caswell's restaurant Reef and companion bar 3rd Coast. It was situated on the corner of Travis and McGowen. Marketing materials for other units at 2600 Travis seem to indicate a steakhouse restaurant is opening in suite 100. An old site plan showed Reef in the unit. However, a site plan from 2021 shows a steakhouse. Recent listings for the 2600 Travis building are advertising other available units. Does anyone know have further insight? https://portal.tarantino.com/property-for-lease/2600-travis https://portal.tarantino.com/property/downloadfile/sale/3634/0PrOq4skVH/9d4f9efd4ba88e7bff26ccb4c0ded894.pdf https://www.crexi.com/lease/properties/526140/texas-2600-travis https://api-lease.crexi.com/assets/526140/flyer Old site plan 2021 site plan Edited November 16, 2022 by IntheKnowHouston

Recently, an establishment possibly named Amore or Amore Supper Club applied for liquor permits. 2600 Travis St, Suite 100 is the listed business address. Last month, two entities connected to Amore were formed. One of the entitles is Tribe Travis LLC. I don't know if the business will operate as Tribe or if Tribe is some kind of lounge or bar for Amore. It's also possible Tribe Travis LLC as nothing to do with Amore. Even so, I suspect Amore's concept could be similar to Bisou, Kiss, and Ciel. All three of the aforementioned restaurants are supper clubs in spirit, but are marketed as vibe dining.

Tumbleweed_Tx
Warehouse Live is closing Dec 3. All operations are moving to Rise Rooftop, which will be rebranded as Warehouse Live. The entrance is moving to McGowan St, with an elevator so my bud Raul can come to a show. Rise will shut down for 2 weeks to do the major reconstruction of the interior, this happens after the Dec 16 show.

j_cuevas713
While I feel like this is a major loss for EaDo, it's also a great addition to Midtown. I'm guessing they already know St Emanuel is eventually going to turn in to a racetrack after the 45 realignment.
Tumbleweed_Tx
I doubt if anything can go into that space. The City turned Walker St into a bike lane, that's the load-in area. The owner of the parking lot behind the building has asserted his rights to 8' of the driveway behind the building, that's where the band gear goes in the building.
hindesky
"Warehouse Live — a live music venue that anchored nightlife in the EaDo area before it was known as EaDo — will close its doors after its Dec. 2 Tribute Fest concert, which will feature 10 tribute bands on two stages. Also shuttering next month will be the more recently opened Rise Rooftop in Midtown. The last show at Rise Rooftop — which opened on New Year's Eve 2021 — will be Dec. 17. That space at 2600 Travis will undergo renovations and on Dec. 29, the rebranded Warehouse Live Midtown will open in the Rise Rooftop location with a performance by Sullivan King. An official "grand reopening celebration" will be held with a Cash Cash performance on Dec. 31. The Rise Rooftop/Warehouse Live Midtown space is described by Big City Entertainment LP as "a unique multi-use concept" with 15,000 square feet and a retractable roof." https://www.houstonchronicle.com/entertainment/music/article/warehouse-live-18504347.php
