  1. We understand that there is a picture of the Earl of Huntingdon somewhere in the Huntingdon Building. We have contacted the current Earl of Huntingdon who lives nearby, but he knows nothing about it. We woud appreciate if someone could confirm this, or a denial would be useful, and if so could they let us know which Earl of Huntingdon that the picture shows. The Earl of Huntingdon is the Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire and is believed to be descended from Robin Hood. Thank you for any help.
  2. The site was expected to be the last phase of Kirby Commmons Townhomes, Pelican Builders has revised plans for a 7-story condo building. http://www.westmorehouston.com/

  5. It's not quite going up yet, but I'm confident it will be soon as there have been recent reports about their plans including this one from this past Friday. We can change the title once it is announced. From the article: The article also mentions that other potential locations are the Med Center, Energy Corridor, downtown and even suburban locations like The Woodlands and Sugar Land. http://www.chron.com/business/sarnoff/article/Sarnoff-Ashby-high-rise-developers-request-first-3832588.php#photo-3396224

  8. I thought there was already a thread about this, but I can't find one, so I will include all the information I know. At 2715 Bissonnet in West U, diagonally across the street from the old Coca Cola bottling plant, there is a two-story shopping center from the 1960s or 1970s, which is being torn down for redevelopment. Plans for redevelopment have been going on for a while; this flyer was posted in 2017 when a company called Edge was marketing it. More recently, BPI realty has been marketing it, with the following rendering common to both flyers, showing a one-story strip mall: And here is the site plan: In November, the city of West University Place had a hearing to replat it. The existing development is called The Upper Kirby Building, not to be confused with a building of the same name on Richmond, and other places have referred to it as the Shoppes at Upper Kirby and the Shops at West U, so I am uncertain of what the name of the final development will be. Swamplot reported on the imminent demolition of the existing buildings, including this pre-demolition photo: Here are some photos I took of it today during demolition:
  9. Looks like HEB is really pushing hard for their new urban concept... this could be a large development (just my speculation). no mention of mixed use but it looks like their urban concepts are shooting for that where feasible and this would certainly be a feasible location. http://www.chron.com/business/real-estate/article/H-E-B-planning-Upper-Kirby-land-buy-11743119.php?ipid=ntk
  10. Noticed this on Loopnet. 2828 Southwest Fwy - Four Points by Sheraton Greenway Plaza https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/2828-Southwest-Fwy-Houston-TX/23923870/ The Property is situated on 2.38 acres (103,569 square feet) of land, presenting a rare opportunity for a developer with flexibility to reposition or redevelop the Property into a different asset type. Alternatively, a new hotel investor will have the opportunity to realize the significant upside of acquiring and renovating an asset in a highly desirable submarket, substantially below replacement cost.

  16. ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company Technical Training Center Project: ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company Technical Training Center, Houston Client ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company Architect: PageSoutherlandPage Contractor: D.E. Harvey Consultants: Shen Milsom Wilke (av/acoustics); ASA Consulting Engineers (structrual); ARCADIS (civil); The Office of James Burnett (landscape); Sunland Engineering (traffic); HBC/Terracon (soils); Bridges International (roofing); Moisture Technology Corp. (curtain wall) Photographer: Tim Griffiths Floor Plan The design of the ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company Technical Training Center, completed in May 2004, blends the old with the new. The two-story 98,000-sf facility responds to the materials and horizontality of the existing Buffalo Speedway campus, but applies a new combination of forms and material relationships. The new building's design becomes more creative as it moves away from its junction with the 1950s-era McKie and Kamrath building, notable for its strips of brick, glass and shading devices. The new facility's facade steps toward the street in a series of layers composed of Central Texas limestone, glass, and brick. Another material - a canted curved metal panel - is introduced to represent ExxonMobil's innovative technology. The facility houses a grand lobby and gallery, classrooms of various sizes, two large areas for breakout sessions, as well as support and office spaces for training staff. The terrazzo floor in the lobby is an abstract pattern representing fluvial systems studied within the training center. Classrooms are equipped for the latest media, and a visualization classroom takes advantage of a large projection screen that can be configured in several ways, including as four sides of a cube. Parking for approximately 458 cars is provided adjacent to the training facility. The project distinguishes itself by covering a wide range of subject matter, from the tactile nature of oil field hardware and geologic material to the virtual world of computer models and simulations. All elements combine to create a training tool which will serve thousands of students annually from around the world who are involved in ExxonMobil's exploration, development, production, and research enterprises. --Courtney Mahaffey Link
