The goal of the project is to convert the existing building into 20 micro-loft apartments. The average square footage of each apartment is 300 SF and includes a full size bath and fully equipped kitchen." These units are within walking distance of the University of Houston and judging by the size of the units, they will be geared toward students. https://www.drafthousedesign.studio/3611-drew-street https://www.tdlr.texas.gov/TABS/Projects/TABS2021008213

So, like the rest of Houston, the UH is gonna bomb the old and build new. Here's a look EXTERIOR press box/club suite side VIEW FROM NW CLUB LEVEL OVERHEAD Also included is a MUCH needed renovation to Hofheinz Pavilion right-to-left Alumni/Athletics Center, new Hofheinz exterior, football stadium

  13. My son is starting at UH in the fall and I'm looking for tips and info on the parking situation at the main campus. I've heard it's a nightmare, but the one time we were there was a late afternoon and we parked at the Welcome Center garage without much hassle. He'll be commuting in from the west side of town. We're tossing around three different options. 1) get a parking permit and park on campus 2) me dropping him off and picking him up 3) taking the P&R and a local bus Any info on those three options or another one not listed would be appreciated.
  14. Took these when I went to visit UHCL's beautiful campus.

  16. KHOU reports that UH was named a Tier One university for research activity. While this doesn't make the university a Tier One status school (whatever that means), it's a key step to achieving that goal. Article: http://www.khou.com/news/local/University-of-Houston-named-Tier-One-school-for-research-activity-114137594.html
  17. I'm a student there, planning to graduate in May 2009. Everyone in Houston knows where UHD is and doesn't get it confused with UH. It's been that way for 35 yrs, why does an outsider (Renu Khator) all of a sudden feel the need to change it? http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/nb/hei...ws/5953919.html
  18. M.D. Anderson Library (lobby/ study area), originally uploaded by b2tse.For those of us who aren't students or staff, it's nice to see what things look like inside the University of Houston. 19. Does anyone have any memories from times in University/College? Any strange acts of vandalism or teenage stupidity? Any tips on how to stay in college? My sister is coming back from DePauw University (in Greencastle, Indiana) for Thanksgiving. She just graduated from Lamar High in Houston last May. She says that at DePauw a bunch of kids vandalized a deer statue donated by an alumn by making a failed attempt to saw off its legs. Then some kids rode the statue in the nude during Halloween.

July 20, 2006, 5:04PM Concerns put UH's satellite on back burner Lawmakers and neighbor schools question need for northwest campus By MATTHEW TRESAUGUE Copyright 2006 Houston Chronicle The University of Houston has been forced to delay plans for a satellite campus in the growing northwest suburbs because of concerns that the new competition could cripple neighboring universities. The proposed campus would provide upper-level and graduate courses on property now owned by Hewlett-Packard Corp., with a projected enrollment of more than 5,000 students by 2012. The university has agreed to buy the
  22. My husband and I are spending a lot more time (business during the week, church near Rice U at other times) in various locations along the Main Street corridor. BUT we live in pretty-far west Houston (Stratford HS area) and it is a real PAIN getting there and back. Our kids are almost all out of high school and, except for re-sale issues, schools are not a big concern. We can't afford: Montrose, West U, Bellaire, etc. and are beginning to wonder if there are pockets of civility east of Main Street. The other day I was driving up Wayside (old U.S. 90, north of I-45) and there appeared to be so
