  1. Somewhat confused. There are a couple of FAA filings. One is for an '80, 4-story MOB Archive Search Results Form 7460-1 for ASN 2021-ASW-5631-OE (faa.gov) Another is for a structure, not noted as a garage nor crane tied to the same project and timeline but '152 Proposed Case for TX: 2021-ASW-6823-OE (faa.gov) Hadn't seen a mention of a new MOB at the Greater Heights campus from anything previously. Timeline appears to be December of this year to January 2023 in either case. Based on the maps, it looks like it should be on the west side of the complex.
  2. "On a statewide level, the TDHCA awarded $81.6 million in tax credits to a total of 71 affordable housing developments, including 10 in Houston. Another proposed project in the area that submitted an application to the TDHCA – a 180-unit complex called The Ella planned for 1718 W. 26th St. – was not awarded a tax credit." https://theleadernews.com/topfeature/dian-street-villas-project-awarded-housing-tax-credit/
  3. Some of this might be old news , but I noticed a demo crew working on an adjacent house today which got me looking into this property. This article from October 2018 (at the end) references a "2727 Flats" apartment midrise to be constructed on a small parcel of land on Houston Avenue just across from Woodland Park...with the owner being "2731 Houston Ventures LLC" https://www.virtualbx.com/construction-preview/houston-metro-to-upgrade-northwest-transit-center/ The only permits I can locate are wastewater-related from September. An existing variance request sign for Janu
  4. There is a request for a variance pending before the planning commission for Oct 2 for the Freedman's distributor site on Waverly and W 6th down below the bike path. 8.65 acres. Seeking a building line variance from 25 feet to 10 feet. No indication what, if anything, is planned for the property. Freedam's looks to have been bought out by Grocer's Supply. The latter also has been consolidating operations into a new space in the 1st ward. No idea whether they are going to sell, are selling or have sold or whether they will redevelop the property with modern warehouse space.

  6. There are so many odd places in the Heights you pass every day and wonder what in the world is going on inside. Then, you see them listed for sale and finally get to see inside. Not sure whether this will catch on, but here are two recent listings of homes that I have always wondered about: http://search.har.com/engine/519-Heights-Blvd-Houston-TX-77007_HAR70909969.htm I always thought the rear building was an additional residence. I never imagined it being quite this ostentatious. http://search.har.com/engine/dispSearch.cfm?mlnum=51045446&v=s I thought this one would just be som
  7. Variance sign is up for a 10' setback for a multifamily project at 580 N. Shepherd. Presto Maintenance Supply sold their company and moved out recently. Keep your eyes peeled for the next planning commission agenda for more details.
  8. There are CBRE signs up at the Bethel Church at 1107 Shepherd, or the block bounded by Shepherd, Durham, Center and Nett. This might create difficulty for the restaurant formerly known as Floyd's, since they use the church parking lot for their customers. 13. This is the large double-block bounded by Nicholson, Rutland, 25th and 26th, as well as the block bounded by Ashland, Rutland, 24th and 25th. In the last week or so, a trailer has been deposited on this land, on the 26th St side, right across from Ashland St, and the big for sale sign has come down. Any news on what might be happening here? There's currently a LOT of residential construction going on within 3-4 blocks of this site.

  15. By Matt Dulin | 2:36 PM Apr 9, 2021 CDT | Updated 2:36 PM Apr 9, 2021 CDT A Houston homebuilder is planning to bring as many as 87 townhomes to a former Union Pacific property in the Washington Avenue corridor. Billed as White Oak Station, the development is a project by the builder City Choice Homes and Happen Houston, the broker for the property, which has similar projects across the Houston area. "It is super preliminary at this point, but we'll be looking to bring a high-end product tailored to the area," said Michael Afshari, an adviser with Happen Houston. W

  19. My wife and I love the Heights area and have enjoyed our first year living here. One thing that we wonder about though is the lack of restaurant diversity in the area. We enjoy the new Thai Spice quite a bit...but find ourselves having to go to Montrose or Rice Village if we ever want anything other than a burger, sandwich, chinese food or pizza. It seems like recently the Heights just started getting some new restaurants outside of the same old lines. We love Onion Creek...but Dry Creek, 6th St. Bar & Grill, etc. all serve up the same burger and fry options. For example we love
  20. 200 unit building (150 apartment units, 50 townhomes) Someone mind posting the full article? https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2019/04/22/houston-developer-to-buy-land-near-washington-ave.html
  21. Does anyone know if the Resurrection Life Fellowship building at 730 E. 11th - not too far west of the instersection of 11th and Studewood - was once a movie theater? And, if so, what it was called? I'll post this in the Heights subforum for now, but if a moderator wants to move it to Historic Houston, that's fine by me.
