The building I am referring to is the old bank building bounded by the streets: Webster, Milam, Travis and Gray. It is probably 12-15 stories and on the very Northern edge of midtown. What can be done with this building? Can it be economically turned into resiential? Surely asbestos abatement would negate this. Can a business come in and renovate? Should it be another casualty of Houston's tear down craze? To crater or not to crater?

Looks like Morningstar Development Ventures/Owl House Properties is developing a third multifamily building in the medical center. A recent Plan Review Permit was pulled yesterday for 1904 Addison LLC.

technically, it's at Grand/Alice, but 288 and OST are within walking distance. Possibly called Med Park? That's what it's referred to on the agenda. from the planning commission

That is South Braeswood at that point. Wells Fargo, Three Brothers, the cleaners and Bayou Manor all have S. Braeswood addresses; a quarter mile west The Meritage, on the same street, has a North Braeswood address. The bayou crosses under near the RR tracks. The illustration makes it look like they're going to elevate the building some. Wells Fargo, 3 Brothers and the cleaners have all flooded.

I remember reading about this development almost a year ago, and then it disappeared into the mist with everything else that started going on nearby. 277 units... 4 stories on top of 2 levels of garage. It's now u/c. They are knocking all the old buildings down. (Link to additional info... http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/print-edition/2011/12/16/former-houston-multifamily-developer.html?page=all)

Canal Place: Multifamily At 2104 Canal St.
Guest posted a topic in EaDo, the East End, and East Houston
I've been wondering what was going to go up on a prime (although the railroad, Clayton Homes and 59 are right there) parcel of 2.5 acres at Canal & Navigation. I'm a little disappointed to learn that it's not going to be a great luxury mid-rise as this area is just getting started and needs a big project to solidify the up-trend/conversion from industrial to residential, but that's just my selfish Sim-Houston side I suppose. With over 50 market-priced units, the lower-income population hopefully will behave themselves and the complex won't be allowed to degenerate, a potential hazard of all large apartment complexes. At 6 stories, there will be some great downtown views. Bizjournal article.- 19 replies

slightly off topic: tracy has announced his plans on the grammercy site. from nancy's article yesterday (can't post link, subscription only) this is the site directly behind rice epicurean on holcome and kirby. he owns the land on both sides of grammercy. he's been shopping this site for at least two years.
