Howdy from the Alamo City HAIF Family. Unless y'all have been living under rocks for the past few years, the TX Education Agency made it official yesterday when TX Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath confirmed that the TEA will be moving full-steam ahead taking over the Houston Independent School District & with the takeover, this means Houston ISD Superintendent Dr. Millard House, III & the current elected members of the Houston Independent School Board of Trustees will be replaced altogether effective June 1st, 2023. https://abc13.com/houston-isd-state-takeover-official-what-is-next-for-hisd-board-of-managers-commissioner-mike-morath-interview/12956975/ Reaction from TX Governor Greg Abbott (R), who was in Dallas yesterday when he was asked about the TX Education Agency taking over Houston ISD: Houston Mayor Sylvester "Sticky Fingers" Turner (D)'s reaction of the takeover. Funny thing is that back in 2015, Turner was one of those who voted FOR the legislation which opened the door to all of this:

In a surprise to nobody, former Houston City Councilwoman At-Large 2 Sue Lovell (D) jumped into the crowded campaign for Houston Mayor, some think she might take more progressive votes away from incumbent Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner (D) in November. In light of the constant battle over the voter-approved Proposition B from last fall, which Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner (D) is fighting to nullify & dismantle as well as the Turner administration's war on the HFD Firefighters Union & the Houston Fire Department, will this doom his reelection campaign this fall ? https://abc13.com/politics/in-wake-of-prop-b-way-forward-still-not-clear/5311376/ https://www.click2houston.com/news/houston-firefighters-union-to-discuss-prop-b-developments https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Turner-rejects-fire-union-request-to-take-13868295.php

Will the Pension Reform Plan pushed aggressively by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner (D) get passed by the TX Legislature ? A.) YES B.) NO http://abc13.com/politics/mayor-warns-of-massive-layoffs-if-pension-plan-fails/1919766/

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner (D) achieved his goal of securing unanimous passage of his 1st budget on May 25th, a month ahead of the typical schedule & after an unusually brief & amicable discussion inside City Council headquarters. The $2.3 billion general fund budget, which pays for most basic city services with revenues from taxes & fees, spends $82 million less than the current budget, only the 2nd budget cut for Houston in decades. That is in spite of the city facing an additional $27 million in mandated employee raises & $29 million more in rising pension payments in the fiscal year that starts on July 1st. Anyone have thoughts on the budget & impact it's going to have ? http://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/politics/houston/article/Turner-unanimous-budget-OK-sends-strong-message-7945759.php
