Looking for a bit of history on the Chase bank in the Greenway area off of US 59 and Buffalo Speedway. It has the gold dome and I remember back when the Rockets were winning championships they covered the dome with a Basketball tarp. Anyway, I am looking for the origins of this building just for my own curious reasons.

Multi-story self storage will soon take over another parking lot in downtown. Less than 2 blocks away from the new U-Haul building.

Does anyone know if the Resurrection Life Fellowship building at 730 E. 11th - not too far west of the instersection of 11th and Studewood - was once a movie theater? And, if so, what it was called? I'll post this in the Heights subforum for now, but if a moderator wants to move it to Historic Houston, that's fine by me.

I've been seeing this crane from a distance for a while, now I know what it's building.

Yesterday, OrangeStone Capital closed on 8989 Westheimer. Go say your goodbyes to the building; partner Hussain Nathoo tells us it plans to redevelop it within the year. Hussain tells us all sorts of uses would work on the three-acre site, and his team hasn't decided what it wants to put there. It'll be deciding quickly, since it aims to begin redevelopment by the end of 2016. The acquisition was a bit challenging, Hussain tells us, because OrangeStone was dealing with a bankrupt entity that had timing constraints. The team was able to close within 60 days with debt provided by Benchmark Bank's Jason Beene. The deal is sort of history repeating itself—OrangeStone closed two Houston office acquisitions in November and December last year, including the adjacent 9099 Westheimer. According to Swamplot, which got it from the Houston Press, Los Dos Amigos at 5720 Washington Blvd. is closing in February to make way for more condos. No further information on the size of the project or other details. http://blogs.houstonpress.com/eating/2015/01/los_dos_amigos_open_since_1976_to_shutter_in_february.php

Land is being cleared on the North side Richmond between Hazard and Woodhead, including the former Shell station and at least one of the older brick houses/apartments along the block. It looks like King Cole is still open, however. The block will be filled with a new self-storage facility. Further down and across the street, the last of the old Lucky Burger building at Richmond and Mandell has been flattened, and is being hauled off in a dumpster (probably to add 6 more parking spots for Rev-El-Ry). Except in front of the new apartments, narrow broken cobblestone sidewalks and mud make much of the street barely walkable. Dunlavy between Richmond and the HEB is a crater-filled mess, crowded with cars and pedestrians driven from the adjacent broken and muddy water-filled sidewalks. I had such hopes a decade ago that one day Richmond would become a walkable street with pedestrian-friendly businesses, but even if the infrastructure gets fixed some day there will be fewer actual destinations to walk to.

Seems large enough to warrant its own thread, also on a prominent block

CubeSmart Self Storage: 5-Story Storage At 1202 Shepherd Dr.
skooljunkie posted a topic in Going Up!
Saw a sign up for a storage facility for the block bounded by Shepherd/Neff/Allen(railroad)/Parker. I couldn't take a pic though--looked to be 5 levels or so HCAD shows Provident as owning the land...they do build self storage -
I was riding my bike down W Holcombe Blvd (just west of TMC) and I came across this: Anyone have any clue what it is? It's on Holcombe between Morningside Dr and Kelvin Dr. I looked up the location on Google Earth and it appears a red-roofed building was there before. The lot is extremely small so I was surprised by the crane that was there.

Next to the Washington Courtyards apartments, just down the street from the cemetery?
