I was reading the newspaper The Bellaire Texan dated June 22, 1950 and came across Tobias Sakowitz's residential home. Tobias Sakowitz, 2620 Riverside Drive, president of Sakowitz Bros., presided at traditional "rising of the tree" at new $8 million Sakowitz Bros. store. His quests: construction workers. Refreshments: beer and sandwiches.

Can someone tell me about Sakowitz? What was it like? What happened to it?

I'm in the market for a larger place and being a fan of MCM I've always been interested in 5050 Woodway. Does anyone know anything about this building? I don't know anything about it other than what has been shown in listings in HAR over the years. The maintenance fee seems to be very low for a high rise. That kind of scares me. I wonder if the maintenance on the building is being done as it should be. Current Listing in 5050 Woodway

Trying to locate a specific historical address for them w/out much luck. The '46-'47 {vol. 49} issue of Morrison/Fourmy's City Directory has them listed on page 1040 of the white page alpha section @ the corner of Texas/Rusk in the {37 flr.} Gulf Bldg. I x referenced Bldg. directory {pg 1591} for the 104 tenants listed w/in the Gulf Bldg {Gulf Oil occupied 14 flrs.} located @ 710 Main Str. & there name does not appear. There full page ad on page {74} of the buyer's guide states that they have 5 full floors for the sale of merchandise of the better kind. All three listed sources do not give a specific mail address. As time permits would y'all check your sources for more details, and forward to me?
