Central Fort Bend - Indoor Sports Complex Proposal
ChannelTwoNews posted a topic in Points Southwest
The largest single item on the current bond package that will be voted on in a few weeks is for an indoor sports complex in "Central Fort Bend" County. Most of the other projects on the list are denoted by the community or Precinct they are in. Does anyone have any additional insight on where this might be proposed for or what could be acquired to develop something like this in that part of the County? https://agendalink.co.fort-bend.tx.us:8085/docs/2023/CCTS/20230802_3820/57637_Overall_Total_2023_Parks_Bond_Project_07.24.23.pdf Sports Complex Acquire or construct indoor Sports Complex in Central Fort Bend County. Construct parking lot, lighting, water/sewer, grading, detention pond, monument sign, signage, landscaping/irrigation and sidewalks. Central Fort Bend $18,937,000.00-

"A 12-acre mixed-use complex recently broke ground south of Houston where a unique concept promises to give small-business owners more control and flexibility over their real estate destinies. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/real-estate/article/indigo-commons-fort-bend-richmond-mixed-use-retail-18094081.php#photo-23813030

I recently checked out the Genealogy Department at George Memorial Library, which happens to be where they store all the old copies of Newspapers on Microfiche. I scanned some old ads most are from May of 1992 however I also grabbed a few from February of 1998. I'm going to have to upload them one by one due to file size restrictions. We start off with An ad for Bealls which is located in the same spot that Burkes Outlet is today. According to Wikipedia the change in names was due to another company called Bealls already holding a trademark in this part of Texas. We also have an ad for Cinema 8 which was at the time owned by Cinemark. It is noted as being in the "Randalls Shopping Center" which would later of course become the Kroger Shopping Center.

New Amazon Fulfillment Center in Fort Bend County?
ChannelTwoNews posted a topic in Points Southwest
When I was looking at the most recent leasing brochure for Brazos Town Center to update that thread, I saw a mention of a new Fulfillment Center on one of the pages of the leasing brochure. Both the facility off the Grand Parkway and the one around Missouri City are larger than this one that's mentioned. Hadn't seen any reports about another one in local media. Anyone have any additional insight?- 1 reply

This is a recent story on the Clodine General Store from the Fort-Bend Herald Coaster newspaper... Fate of Clodine General Store hangs in the air By Marquita Griffin Wednesday, September 12, 2007 4:17 PM CDT There was a time when Clodine was just a sleepy country town out west of Houston. Not many people, not much traffic, not anywhere to shop. Except, of course, for the Clodine General Store. One of the community's oldest buildings, it was the central gathering place for the folks who lived in the tiny settlement, located along FM 1464 in northeast Fort Bend County. All that, of course, has changed with the growth of Houston, as builders snapped up all that farmland around the town and turned it into numerous subdivisions for downtown commuters. With each nail and yard of concrete, Clodine has slowly faded into a historical footnote. And as the town slipped away, so went the store. And now the fate of the Clodine General Store hangs in the air as preparations for the expansion of FM 1464 are in motion, but all Henry Nemec wants is to preserve what he views as a historic structure. Hidden beneath rust and faded signs, the Clodine General Store sits quietly like an old-timer, with memories carefully stored away in the cracks of the wooden floors and the among the dust collecting on the shelves.
