  1. Unless you've been living under a rock, CBS 11 KHOU-TV Houston GM Susan McEldoon announced her retirement & here's the full details on McEldoon's retirement & her accomplishments since taking over as the TEGNA Station's GM. http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2018/03/khou-gm-susan-mceldoon-announces-retirement.html Your thoughts on McEldoon's legacy at CBS 11 KHOU-TV Houston ?
  2. Unless you've been living under a rock for months or weeks, it appears that what's going on at Ch. 13 appears to be upping the ante. Ch. 13 Reporter Kevin Quinn has resigned after 15 years with the ABC O&O Station in order to spend with family, but it'll be interesting to see where Quinn lands next. However, he's not the only one leaving Ch. 13 as there's been speculation swirling around longtime employees exiting from engineering, community affairs & beyond over the last few months. Mike McGuff's Ch. 13 contact David Lee bolted from the ABC O&O Station as well... he went to ABC 7 WLS-TV Chicago, IL. The Los Angeles Times had an article from October of 2017, which reported the ABC Television Group was going to have layoffs across the board (Ch. 13 is owned by the Disney ABC Television Group). Then the best media blogger around, Robert Feder, reported layoffs at ABC 7 WLS-TV Chicago (Sister Station). http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2018/03/kevin-quinn-resigns-from-ktrk-abc13.html Let me know your thoughts on Quinn leaving Ch. 13 & the overall fallout of what's been going on with the ABC O&O Station.
  3. CBS 11 KHOU-TV Reporter Josh Chapin announced late last night on social media that he's bolting to the Tar Heel State. Although he cannot reveal where in NC. https://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2018/01/josh-chapin-exits-khou-11.html?m=1
  4. Who saw this one coming ? After 12 1/2 years with the station, FOX 26 Evening Anchor Melinda Spaulding has announced she'll be leaving. In her Facebook page, Spaulding said she wants to spend more time with her husband & kids & doesn't want to miss another moment. https://www.facebook.com/melindaspauldingfox26/ Thoughts from anyone on Spaulding leaving FOX 26 ?
  5. Today was the LAST day for Rita Garcia at FOX 26 KRIV-TV Houston after 6 years with the Houston FOX affiliate. Plus, Garcia will be going to FOX sister station, FOX 11 KTTV-TV Los Angeles, CA. While there's no word on what she'll be doing, someone found a Google search of video demos that Garcia was doing in early October for KTTV's "Good Day LA" Morning Show (The legendary Steve Edwards is still there from what I hear & for those, who don't remember: the "Good Day Live" TV Show, which was on FOX 26 & other FOX affiliates in the early 2000's). "She's one of the best, hard to see her go, but so happy for her bright future," said Morning Anchor Melissa Wilson. Garcia joined FOX 26 back in December of 2011 from Los Angeles, so it's a return to the City of Angels for her. The then-CBS 2 KCBS-TV Los Angeles freelance reporter joined the FOX 26 family as Weekend Anchor & Reporter. Less than 2 years later, she moved up to the weekday morning newscasts, where she's been ever since until today. The Lone Star State native began her TV News career in Welasco, TX with ABC 5 KRGV-TV. Garcia holds BA Degrees from Texas State University of San Marcos (Mass Communications & Spanish). https://www.facebook.com/RitaGarciaFOX26/ http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2017/12/rita-garcia-leaving-fox-26-for-fox-11-KTTV-LA.html Post your thoughts on Garcia's departure & her return to the City of Angels.
  6. Coco Dominguez has been named as the Traffic Anchor for the 5:00 PM Newscast & Lifestyle Correspondent at FOX 26, announced station VP & News Director Susan Schiller. Effective starting today, Dominguez will be serving as the Traffic Anchor for FOX 26 5:00 PM Newscast & contributing entertainment & lifestyle pieces for the "Bayou City Buzz," a segment which appears the "News Edge" at 10:00 PM. In making the announcement, Schiller stated, "In addition to providing our viewers with need to know rush-hour news, Coco will bring her versatility & unique perspective of Houston's most interesting people, places & events to our newscasts." http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2017/08/coco-dominguez-named-fox-26-traffic.html https://www.facebook.com/cocogirl.dominguez
  7. Where were you when Ch. 13 used the updated studio set during their Eyewitness News Briefs from February 24th, 1986 ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35eAEPT9L2c Because I noticed they didn't update the Circle 13 logo until sometime around March or April of 1986!
  8. Good afternoon ladies & gentlemen. Sonia Azad is moving to the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area! The former KTRK-TV Ch. 13 (ABC) general assignments reporter/fill-in anchor will be joining to WFAA-TV ABC 8, where she will become the TEGNA station's new medical reporter/fill-in anchor. The position was previously held by longtime reporter Janet St. James, who recently left the station after many years. St. James has also announce she's battling breast cancer. Azad told mikemcguff.com, "I see it as a big responsibility & it is a big honor to follow her in this role." She joins fellow former KTRK-TV Ch. 13 reporter Demond Fernandez in Dallas, who left Houston in May 2014 for WFAA-TV. Houston viewers will also see WFAA-TV's news director Carolyn Mungo because she was an award-winning reporter for KHOU-TV CBS 11 for many years. She also worked at Fox 26 KRIV-TV as the station's assistant news director before leaving for the Metroplex! Wish Sonia good luck in the DFW!
  9. Courtney Fischer has joined Ch. 13 as a reporter from Pittsburgh, PA's Action News WTAE-TV & also worked with WLEX Lexington, KY & WEHT-TV Evansville, IND., Plus, she's also an alumnus of DePaul University & native of Chicago, IL. http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2015/08/courtney-fischer-joins-ktrk-abc13.html
  10. Ladies & Gentlemen, Houston TV viewers will be losing Karla Barguiarena AGAIN! According to Mike McGuff of mikemcguff.com, Barguiarena has been working with the ABC O&O station since 2013. Since her husband, former KHOU-TV CBS 11 news director Keith Connors, got a job earlier this year at WTNH in New Haven, CT, it was quite obvious Barguiarena's days in Houston were pretty much over. Before returning to Houston, she had worked as a media relations expert for Angie's List. She also worked with KHOU-TV CBS 11 in the mid-to-late 2000s including Telemundo Houston KTMD for 5 years. She'll be missed by many TV viewers in Houston! http://www.facebook.com/ABC13KarlaBarguiarena?fref=nf http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2015/06/karla-barguiarena-exits-abc-13-ktrk.html
