  1. For lovers of mid-century modern design, I am selling my Heywood Wakefield vanity. This price is a steal for what I originally paid for it and for what it is valued. This Heywood Wakefield vanity was designed by Leo Jiranek, at Rockefeller Center, one of New York’s brightest design stars from the 1930-1970s. Originally produced in the 1940’s, this rare piece exudes a distinctly 1930s-era American Art Deco vibe. It is made of versatile, sturdy Maple with an amber finish and has 6 drawers for storage. It is in excellent condition. This vanity has had two owners, myself, and Lois Chiles (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lois_Chiles) who’s estate donated it to The Guild Shop (on Dunlavy st. in Montrose) where I bought it in 2008. I had the seat cushion reupholstered by the professionals at Hien Lam upholstery. I have cherished this piece but am letting it go because we are moving and I no longer have the space for it. Similar era pieces by Leo Jiranek for Heywood Wakefield can be found on 1stDibs at commensurate price points. (Dresser, $2,500: https://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/storage-case-pieces/dressers/stylish-blonde-art-deco-heywood-wakefield-highboy-rio-dressers-maple-1940s/id-f_17615572/, Nightstands, $2,595: https://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/more-furniture-collectibles/bedroom-furniture/night-stands/heywood-wakefield-sculptura-midcentury-wheat-nightstands-pair/id-f_21935372/?gclid=Cj0KCQiA-aGCBhCwARIsAHDl5x8ppuUvnamhxmhaca-8kKEUBWi7FfZCbrTKVfbxmTsKpB10M-HXHt4aAuFjEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds) Heywood-Wakefield still manufactures mid-century furniture today, but this piece is no longer in production and is original to the 1940s. 2. Here is a pristine Post-War ranch for sale in Oak Forest Area. I notice lots of original details with minimal updating. The updating that has been done was done correctly. Exceptional hardwood floors, paneling and cabinetry w/ some built-ins. Fantastic original tile in hall bath. Lots of natural light. Great back patio surrounded by original brick low wall. Very good slab exposure. Nice detached 2 car garage and custom fence. Someone grab this so I can come over and have a drink on that patio! http://www.har.com/802-sara-rose-st/sale_17852824
  3. What MCM homes are currently for sale in the greater Houston area? 3807 Macgregor Way, Houston, TX 77021 is available, and while a gorgeous design, it is totally wrecked. http://search.har.com/engine/3807-Macgregor-Wa-Houston-77021-1531_HAR9555984.htm More photos of interior here...http://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/8427-3807-south-macgregor-way/ Its a shame the realtor has it severely overpriced and is basically letting it rot away.
