Developer says Alvin will have a 32-bed hospital by early 2023 Bill Persefield, CE and Founder of Medica Development Company announced during the Alvin-Manvel Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon last week that his company will be building a state of the art hospital in Alvin. The purchase of land, near Steele Road on Bypass 35, is expected to be completed within the next month, with a ground breaking being planned for December or January 2022. In his presentation, Persefield said that the hospital will have 32 in-patient beds, with the ability to grow to a 90 bed facility. A 24-hour emergency department/trauma center will be open year round, 24 hours a day; and there will be 10 emergency department exam beds and four operating rooms. A post-acute care facility, built at a cost of $55 million, is included. In Phase One, there will be diagnostic imaging, a pharmacy, lab, blood bank, a cath lab, and an outpatient diagnostic and treatment center. The overall cost of the hospital will be $133 million when the complex is complete, with $296 million allotted for the total development of all stages. The hospital will have two-stories and cover 88,000 square feet, with 185 parking spaces. The medical offices will be three-stories and have 340 parking spaces. There will likely be 750 jobs created during construction, he said. http://www.alvinsun.net/news/article_a908cf8a-30fd-11ec-9b36-3f5b9b458808.html
