  1. Noticed this on Loopnet. 2828 Southwest Fwy - Four Points by Sheraton Greenway Plaza https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/2828-Southwest-Fwy-Houston-TX/23923870/ The Property is situated on 2.38 acres (103,569 square feet) of land, presenting a rare opportunity for a developer with flexibility to reposition or redevelop the Property into a different asset type. Alternatively, a new hotel investor will have the opportunity to realize the significant upside of acquiring and renovating an asset in a highly desirable submarket, substantially below replacement cost.

  3. http://newyorkrealestate.citybizlist.com/yourcitybiznews/detail.aspx?id=95828 guessing something near the proposed intermodal transist station (or whatever its called).
  4. http://downtownhouston.org/site_media/uploads/attachments/2014-01-06/140102_Current_Projects_11x17.pdf This proposal has been on the development map for a while now, guess no one really noticed. Anyway, the owner behind the plans recently asked the DRA to increase funding. I'm not sure if the building will be converted to residential or hotel use.
  5. Multimillion dollar remodel. Glad to see this.

  8. 723 Main Street to become an AC Hotel by Marriott. The building is catty corner to the JW Marriott. http://www.downtowntirz.com/downtownhouston/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/06142016-JOINT-BOD-MEETING-AGENDA.pdf
  9. Hotel tower and parking garage, 148 rooms....I'm guessing 7 total floors including ground level lobby given the small foot print of 8,250 SF. It's on the April 3 PC agenda for a driveway Variance, see Item V: ftp://edrc.houstontx.gov//2014/2014-07_DraftAgenda.pdf
  10. Sourced directly from Marriott Development Corp out of the Dallas office. JW Galleria which opened in the mid to late 1980's and is owned by the Marriott Corp subsidiary REIT, is slated to be sold and rebranded as a "Non Marriott" branded hotel within the near "immediate" future. With the soft opening of the new JW Marriott Downtown scheduled for September 18th 2014, and the full ramp up to take place within the final quarter of 2014. It would not be financially feasible for the current JW Houston (Galleria) to design and complete a renovation, to a standard that wouldn’t diminish and hurt the JW Brand. Apparently having 2 JW Marriott brands in one city within such close proximity was never the intent of Marriott or Pearl Hospitality.
  11. I remember staying here with my family as a kid when we would come to Houston to go to Astroworld and the Dome. It was located at 2100 South Braeswood at Greebriar, and I don't recall seeing it in quite a while. Anyone know what happened to it?

  19. Did anyone know this was being built? I searched and could not find anything on it. Sure it's not headline news, but it's 15 stories and they made it pedestrian friendly. Not sure how much discussion this will get since it's finished, but thought I'd post a notice anyway. PRLog (Press Release) – Aug 24, 2009 – The Courtyard Houston Galleria is a brand new, 15-story upscale hotel in the Galleria district of uptown Houston. Located less than two blocks from the Houston Galleria shopping center, this Houston Galleria hotel is located just minutes from everything. The Courtyard Houston Galleria is also less than 10 miles from Reliant Stadium (Houston Texans) and Minute Maid Park (Houston Astros). http://www.prlog.org/10320071-courtyard-houston-galleria-provides-new-accommodations-as-houston-galleria-hotel.html

  21. Rooftop pool This has always been one of my favorite buildings downtown. When it opened in 1962 it was the first downtown hotel since 1929, so it was a big enough deal that the Chronicle ran a special supplement about it. Famous guests included Jack Ruby and the Beatles during their only visit to Houston in 1965. Beatles press conference from the Sheraton-Lincoln: Fans spying: The hotel closed in 1986 but the office section of the building remained open for a while after that. The Hyatt Regency bought the building for expansion in 1998 and planned to connect it to the Hyatt with a skybridge. They got as far as gutting the Sheraton interior to remove asbestos, but the expansion fell through because of the weak economy. It has been a vacant shell ever since.
