  1. From ze Planning Commission. Not much happening with this Agenda overall, but this project in Lawndale is looking for an off-street parking variance. 106 Unit Midrise Apartments. Definitely an odd location.

  3. This thread was originally created May 23,, 2017. I'm reposting this because this post and other content from me are no longer available on the forum. The original thread is archived here. 1201 Oliver Street in the First Ward. This is part of Washington Corridor area (I think).
  4. I created a thread for this a while back, but I can't find it in through Google cache since all of my contributions to this forum were deleted. So, I'm reupping the thread again minus the posts that were in the previous thread (since I didn't save it and it's been removed from Google cache). 1505 Oliver Street in the First Ward. This is part of Washington Corridor area of Houston (I think). Street View from February 2017

    Sawyer Yards

Looks like Lovett is surprisingly remodeling, and not tearing down, an old warehouse near washington, on Sawyer/Edwards, right along the railroad tracks. http://www.lovettcommercial.com/Detail.aspx?idwebarea=36&webid=159 Im sure it's not news to many, but it now looks like the are actually doing some construction there. Anyone have any pictures or know any additional info such as possible tenants?
  6. Yesterday about 9:15am I was driving north on the Gulf Freeway and noticed a motor coach parked under the canopy at the Finger's Furniture store. There were several pickup trucks nearby as well but nothing I could identify as belonging to a particular company or municipal entity. The fence is still up around the parking lot. Does anyone have information regarding what may be happening with this building? Talk about potential!
  7. I have seen a lot of activity at the warehouse on the north side of the Dowling-Polk intersection. They have replaced all of the windows and the upper level has been given a new stucco exterior finish with green-toned paint. Looks like it could be highrise lofts or something like that. Anyone know for sure?
  8. Project Name: The Harris Apartments Address: 3715 Harrisburg Developer/Owner: Lovett Architect: More Architecture Studio Info: Four levels on podium deck overtop of parking. 132 units, total of 111,060 SF. Ground floor to have 3 restaurants, 2 retail, and also a micro-brewery.
  9. This thread was originally created December 29, 2015. I'm reposting / reupping this because this post and other content from me are no longer available on the forum due to a mod removing my account and its content in "error" (supposedly). An archive link of the thread before its deletion is here. Mods, please don't move this to the Heights forum where all of my Washington Corridor posts were moved to. Mods, also don't sneak and move this thread and all the others for Washington Corridor, Oak Forest, Garden Oaks, and Independence Heights to the Heights forum once all the previous content is reposted as y'all have done in the last two weeks and continue to do. This is NOT in the Heights and it's not part of the Greater Heights area in any way. This is in the Washington Corridor area, an area that as suggested and advocated for previously needs its own forum because there is lots of development happening here, much spurred by the Sawyer Yards and Buffalo Heights developments. That in itself usually merits the creation for a new neighborhood forum. Until then, posts for those neighborhoods should remain in the forum for "Other Neighbohoods" has is done with other threads that don't have a dedicated neighborhood or area of town forum.Thanks. Swamplot is reporting that the old Drake nightclub at 1902 Washington Ave (was also The Gatsby and The Mark in recent years, was also Olive's Drug Store in late 1800's or early 1900's) is transforming into a retail space. One of the proposed tenants seem to include Tacodeli out of Austin. Also included in the center according the marketing brochure is a high end barbershop, brewpub and ramen restaurant. From Swamplot: Yet another fast-casual semi-gourmet taco chain from north of town appears to be spreading saucy tendrils into the 610 Loop — Austin-based Tacodeli, which announced intent to expand to Houston and Dallas last year, is now appearing in renderings and marketing plans of Lovett Commercial’s site at 1902 Washington Ave., across the street from upscale cocktail bar Julep and just west of cow-to-table butcher shop and steakhouse B&B Butchers. Tacodeli will be jostling against Torchy’s Tacos (also an Austin export), Fuzzy’s Taco’s (a Dallas chain currently working its way down through the north Houston ‘burbs to West Gray and Post Oak), and Velvet Taco (another Dallas chain) in the rush to claim territory in the local tacoscape, already thick with native Hous-Tex-Mex options. Tacodeli’s new spot is the former home of once-chandeliered nightclub The Drake, now the site of several elaborate grafitti murals. The Drake faced scrutiny in 2012 from Parroquia de San Esteban, a Catholic church located immediately west across White St., for allegedly generating the scandalous trash appearing on the church’s property, including beer bottles, condoms, dirty needles, and obscene fliers. http://swamplot.com/citywide-wave-of-taco-colonization-will-continue-with-occupation-of-former-drake-nightclub-in-sawyer-heights/2015-12-29/
  10. "Fenway Development", linked to Lovett/InTown offices at 1520 Oliver St, is submitting permits for this building. Any idea what's going on here? Seems like it'll remain commercia.
  11. 4-story mid-rise on Lovett’s website, exact location unknown. https://www.lovettcommercial.com/
  12. Info from the Lovett commercial web site being discussed elsewhere. http://www.lovettcommercial.com/Detail.aspx?idwebarea=1&webid=237

  14. I noticed this while vising Fannin Station. Thought I saw HISD meeting notes detailing this area? It was on a COH agenda last year.
  15. I saw that Lovett Commercial have put up a sign at this intersection and it looks like a Wal-Mart will be going in soon based on their site. Does anyone else have any additional information regarding this area? It seems that this new Wal-Mart would be rather close to the one at Bella Terra. Thanks.
