  1. Tom Koch & Melanie Lawson celebrated their 37 year anniversaries with Ch. 13, both beginning their careers with the Houston ABC O&O Station on September 17th, 1982. Gina Gaston is celebrating 25 years with Ch. 13: beginning her first stint in 1992 as the Weekday Morning Anchor with Koch & later anchored with MSNBC NYC, NY St in 1999. She later returned to Ch. 13 in 2001, where she's been ever since. Thoughts on Koch, Lawson & Gaston's respective anniversaries with Ch. 13 ? https://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2019/09/abc13-ktrk-anniversaries.html https://www.facebook.com/TomKochABC13/ https://www.facebook.com/ABC13MelanieLawson/
  2. Good afternoon HAIF bloggers. Unless some of y'all have been living under a rock or a secret beach retreat in the West Coast, Ch. 13 brought in Brheanna Berry to join the ABC O&O Station back in early February. She came from News 3 WTKR-TV Norfolk, VA (she had been there since August of 2017). Plus Berry worked with KELO-TV Sioux Falls, SD as the Morning Anchor/Reporter from March 2016 to 2017; she was also the station's heathbeat reporter. She began her TV News career at KLFY-TV News 10 Lafayette, LA as the Weekend Anchor/Reporter/Multimedia Journalist from November 2014 to March 2016. Berry graduated from James Madison University with a broadcasting degree & also served in the VA Army National Guard as well as the LA Army National Guard. https://abc13.com/about/newsteam/brhe-berry https://www.facebook.com/ABC13brheberry Let me know your thoughts on Berry at Ch. 13 & how do you think she'll do here in Houston's ABC O&O Station ?
  3. Ch. 13 Reporter Christine Dobbyn is leaving the Houston ABC O&O Station after nearly 14 years... According to mikemcguff.com & the Houston Chronicle, Dobbyn said on Twitter that she's hanging up "my reporting cleats" to pursue a new chapter in life. From what McGuff heard, Dobbyn's "new chapter in life" doesn't include the TV Biz. Plus in her LinkedIn profile, she's in the middle of getting a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Rice University's Jones Graduate School of Business. Dobbyn has been with Ch. 13 since 2005 & before she came to Houston, she was Reporter & back-up Anchor at WBNS-TV Columbus, OH. She got her start in the TV Biz at WEHT-TV Evansville, IN, where Dobbyn worked as Reporter & back-up Anchor. She also made it to the finals of Miss IN; also held titles like Indianapolis 500 Princess & Miss Heart of IN. Graduating from Ball State University, Dobbyn was named "Graduate of the Last Decade" in 1999 & also graduated from Poytner Institute & spent 2 weeks in Europe after being selected for the RTDNA-RIAS German Journalist Exchange Program. https://www.facebook.com/ABC13ChristineDobbyn/ https://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2019/03/christine-dobbyn-to-leave-abc13-ktrk.html Thoughts on Dobbyn leaving Ch. 13 ?

He's returning to the ABC O&O Station & launching a new segment with Ch. 13 called "Dave Ward's Houston", the weekly feature, which launches in September, will be taking a look back each week at a topic in Bayou City history that even natives like myself might not be familiar with. "I have thought about doing this for quite some time & mainly because there are whole generations of young people in Houston who aren't aware of some of the history of this great city & how we got here & how we grew & what the future looks like," Ward told mikemcguff.com. http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2018/08/dave-wards-houston-to-launch-on-abc13.html http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2018/08/abc13-and-anchor-emeritus-dave-ward.html Please comment & give your thoughts on Ward's new segment! Now according to Mike McGuff of mikemcguff.com., he's been getting viewer emails & tips that Carson had left the 10:00 PM Newscast & found out Carson had posted this back in early September. Brandon continued serving as the Chief Meteorologist until the early Spring of 1989, when he checked into rehab for substance abuse issues: following this, the ABC O&O Station hired Joe Diaz from Albuquerque, NM to serve as the Chief Meteorologist until Ch. 13 rehired Brandon back in 1990, where he continued until his retirement in May of 2007.
