  1. KPRC-TV has expanded their mid-day newscasts from 11:00am to 12:30pm today, which means the Daytime lineup looks different: http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2015/03/kprc-2-launches-noon-newscast.html http://www.click2houston.com/ Reaction on the changes at KPRC-TV ?
  2. Ladies and gentlemen, we finally have two co-anchors for KPRC-TV's weekend evening newscasts, which means Phillip Mena no longer has to do the weekend newscasts by himself. Syan Rhodes was promoted as the station's weekend evening anchor, which was confirmed by the NBC affiliate's executive producer Rick McFarland told mikemcguff.com. "I'm excited and very thankful for the opportunity," Rhodes told mikemcguff.com. Plus, she's a native Houstonian, who's glad to come back home to the Bayou City. She replaces Irika Sargent, who left the co-anchor gig back in May to WFOR-TV Miami, FL. http://www.click2houston.com/ http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2014/10/syan-rhodes-upped-to-kprc-weekend-anchor.html
  3. Ladies & Gentlemen: Those who are or used to be fans of NBC 2 KPRC-TV Houston back in the good ole days, might remember these anchors or reporters, who worked for the NBC station. Gayle Anderson (1986-1991): "2 On Your Side" Reporter/Midday Anchor (now with KTLA-TV) Wes Hohenstein (2003-2006): (Weekday Morning Meteorologist): [now with WNCN-TV in Raleigh, NC] Kay Bailey Hutchison (1967-1972): first female TV reporter at the station; later went on to serve in the TX House of Representatives (1973-1977); won 5 statewide elections as TX State Treasurer (1991-1993) & United States Senator (1993-2013): her last campaign ended embarrassingly as she got crushed by Governor Perry in the March 2nd, 2010 GOP Gubernatorial Primary by 20 + percentage points. UPDATE: KBH currently served as US Ambassador to NATO under POTUS Donald Trump. Tom Jarrlel (formerly with ABC News) Tony Kovaleski (1997-2001) [now with KNTV-TV] Linda Lorelle (1989-2006): Weekend Anchor & later Weekday Evening Anchor [now with KUHT-TV's Red, White & Blue show] Ray Miller (1950s-1979): Deceased Ron Stone (1972-1992): Deceased Tim Lake (1987-1992): Weekend anchor Sylvia Perez (1985-1989): Weekend Anchor/Health Reporter (formerly with ABC 7 WLS-TV Chicago, IL & FOX 32 WFLD-TV Chicago, IL) John Quinones (1975-1978) [now with ABC News] Jacque Reid (1997-2000) [later with BET Nightly News] Janet Shanilan (1995-1997) [currently with NBC News] Spencer Tillman (1987-1997) [later went to WABC-TV & currently with CBS Sports] Chris Wragge (1998-2004) [later went to WCBS-TV] Paula Zahn (1981-1983) [formerly with CBS News & CNN] Marvin Zindler (1950-1954) [later went to Ch. 13 KTRK-TV, 1973-2007] Deceased Rich Schwartz: Sports Weekend Anchor Roland Galvan (1988-mid 1990s): Deceased Melvin Epps: Weekend Weather Anchor *Anyone else I left out, just let me know immediately & give your take on others, who used to work for NBC 2 KPRC-TV Houston. *Below is a photo of NBC 2 's studio set with the downtown skyline sprawled out, which consisted from 1988 until 1995. Here's a news update from Sylvia Perez from 1989: Weekend news reports from Larry Audas, who subbed in for Tim Lake (1989) Ted Shaw's weather forecast: May 17th, 1989 6:00 PM Newscast with Bill Balleza & Jan Carson:
  4. KPRC-TV NBC 2 Houston is turning into a revolving door & it's happening again: Weekend evening news anchor Irika Sargent will be leaving the Houston NBC station after three years & heading for WFOR-TV Miami, where she will join the CBS 4 news team in May. She will partner with Rick Folbaum to co-anchor the station's weekday early evening & 11:00 PM newscasts. Mike McGuff of McGuff Blog has reported the story. Any reaction from any of y'all of Sargent leaving KRPC and what's happening to the station ? http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2014/02/irika-sargent--kprc-wfor-miami.html
