This doesn't come as any shock to anyone, who watches KPRC-TV NBC 2 Houston, but Simone Eli will be leaving KPRC-TV after just 2 years & heading back to AL. According to Mike McGuff of mikemcguff.com, Eli said, "I've loved my time here & have created amazing relationships with folks at KPRC, but I'm moving to be happier personally & continue my sports broadcasting career in AL (Birmingham/Tuscaloosa area)," Eli told McGuff. "I've yet to make a decision on some job offers but that'll be coming in the next couple of weeks, as well." Eli came to Houston & KPRC-TV NBC 2 from FOX 10 WALA-TV Mobile, AL. Before that, she worked as a TV Play-by-Play, color analyst & reporter for Buckeye Cable Sports Network (BCSN). No stranger to sports, Eli played basketball for Bowling Green State University's championship winning team, which advanced to the Sweet 16. Her last day on KPRC-TV is next Tuesday. Everyone please wish her well! http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2016/05/simone-eli-to-leave-kprc-2.html

KPRC viewer emails are flying into Mike McGuff's inbox. Why ? The "KPRC Local 2" tagline that's been effect for years seems to be going away in favor of the "KPRC 2 News" or "KPRC 2 News" taglines depending on which anchor you're watching. Social media wise, the station is slowly replacing the "local" word. The NBC affiliate's Facebook page name was also switched to "KPRC 2" this afternoon, however the talent pages all say KPRC Local 2 on them still. Same for the station's Twitter account. That's going to be a fun project for someone to go in & making all of those changes! http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2015/01/kprc-2-changes-names-drops-local.html?m=1 Any reaction to the new developments?

KENZI-TV News 9 chief meteorologist Justin Stapleton is coming to KPRC-TV the station has confirmed to mikemcguff.com. "I've always had a fascination with hurricanes & tropical storms," Stapleton told mikemcguff.com. "That's one of the draws to KPRC & Houston, an opportunity to forecast storms when they get into the Gulf & be out in the field reporting when severe weather hits. More importantly, a chance to learn from some amazing seasoned Mets like Frank & the rest of the team. Also to get a chance to learn from a former NHC director, Dr. Read, is an incredible bonus." http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2014/12/justin-stapleton-joins-kprc-2-weather.html?m=1 Reaction from anyone on Stapleton joining the KPRC-TV weather team?

Looks like KPRC-TV is getting more new blood at the NBC O&O station. Mike McGuff of mikemcguff.com reported that Anoushah Rasta is joining KPRC-TV as a reporter. Today was her first day on KPRC, she was previously the weekend anchor for KTSM-TV Ch. 9 El Paso. She worked at KTSM for 2 years, where she started as a reporter/multimedia journalist and fill-in anchor. She was promoted to the weekend anchor position last December. Before the Lone Star State, Rasta had worked for KABC-TV (ABC 7) Los Angeles, CA., as a news assistant, apprentice and freelance traffic producer. While at the Disney/ABC Television Group station, she was on the production team for the 84th Academy Awards & Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2012. Rasta is a graduate of the University of California-Los Angeles and a Southern California native. Any thoughts on Rasta joining KPRC-TV ? http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2014/10/anoushah-rasta-joins-kprc-2.html

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, here's some old-time video opens from KPRC-TV NBC 2 Houston from the 1980s and early 1990s for y'all's input and comments to make about them. Here's one from November 15, 1992's weekend 10pm newscast and note they've still got the downtown news set (which is expanded), but they've removed the "Channel Two News" sign at the very top of the set. January 9, 1991 Nightcast 10pm open from April 19, 1989 with Ron Stone, Jan Carson, Doug Johnson & Craig Roberts: November 5, 1991: Election Results coverage of KPRC-TV: December 30, 1987 10pm newscast: I'm going to assume they didn't unveil their expanded downtown skyline until around 1988: If anyone else can comment on this, let me know. November 4, 1990: KPRC-TV News Brief: November 4, 1990 10pm weekend newscast: May 17, 1989 6pm newscast: Bill Balleza, Jan Carson, Doug Johnson, Craig Roberts: May 16, 1989: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHRG3Gbg_lk
