KPRC-TV viewers were emailing Mike McGuff of mikemcguff.com that KPRC was running promos announcing a new morning meteorologist has been named & it's current weekend morning meteorologist Britta Merwin. The station has officially confirmed it! As McGuff reported back in October, current longtime morning meteorologist Anthony Yanez is heading to the west coast to KNBC-TV Los Angeles, CA (NBC 4) on January 21st, so everyone knows there was an opening coming up. Merwin will officially start as the main morning weather gig on January 16th. Leading up to his January 15th KPRC send off, Yanez has been busy plugging his new children's book "A Wild Ride on the Water Cycle"-a children's book that teaches weather science to younger readers. Mike McGuff of mikemcguff.com and other news media blogs reported that Hernandez was previously from WCDB-TV Charleston, South Carolina, where she worked as the NBC station's weekend morning anchor and reporter for the last 3 and half years. Before joining KPRC-TV, he previously worked at WOIO-TV and Fox 8 in Cleveland, where Starks was a sideline reporter and anchor. Most importantly, I will miss interacting with viewers that have become like friends and family. I was so blessed that I had the opportunity to tell their stories over two decades. I think what I will miss the most is being a voice in the newsroom and represent those that did not have a voice in the media."
