  1. Just found out NBC 2 Weekday Morning Anchor Taniya Wright is no longer with the station after just 9 months (she joined in August of 2019). According to multiple sources, no other information is available yet. Wright anchored the weekday morning & midday newscasts until today. No information about her future plans were available or disclosed. I should note Wright was on today's morning newscast earlier today, but not in the midday newscast for some reason.   4. It's officially the end of a LONG era at NBC 2 KPRC-TV Houston. Legendary NBC 2 KPRC-TV Houston News Anchor Bill Balleza announced he will be retiring from the Houston NBC Station effective in January of 2020. He began his journalism career as a TV Reporter for KRON-TV San Francisco, CA in 1971, before joining CBS 11 KHOU-TV Houston in 1973. A graduate of San Antonio College, he served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War & also served as a Marine Scout Sniper during the Tet Offensive of 1968. He & his wife, Melissa have 3 children & 2 grandchildren.
  5. Sad news for anybody, who watched NBC 2 KPRC-TV Houston over the years. Former NBC 2 KPRC-TV Houston Weatherman Doug Johnson, passed away on Thursday night at the age of 79. Johnson joined NBC 2 in 1962 & stayed until his retirement in 1992. He was also the co-host for "The Scene at 5" with the late Ron Stone. The Katy native was previously with KXAN-TV NBC 36 from 2012. She also worked with WCIA-TV Champaign, IL & also got her start in TV as Reporter/Anchor/Multimedia Journalist with KOMU-TV 8 Columbia, MO. Previously during her 2 years with KRIS-TV Corpus Christi, Donchey also worked with KZTV Action 10 News, also in the same city. The station has officially confirmed it!
