  1. The Klein ISD Board of Trustees approved the purchase of a tract of land for a high school and intermediate school at its November meeting. The 124 acres lie west of the railroad tracks on Spring Cypress Road and east of Windwood Presbyterian Church that is located at 10555 Spring Cypress Road. Funds for this property were approved by voters in the 2004 Bond referendum. The district purchased this tract of land before a new high school and intermediate school are an imminent need because only a limited number of parcels of land large enough for these schools remain within the KISD. The newly purchased property was formerly owned by Dr. and Mrs. James Jones (78 acres) and Mr. Allen Ulrich (46 acres). The sale of the property was completed to the satisfaction of the owners and the school district.
  2. I saw yesterday that Charter Builders just moved a trailer onto some land at 1463 and Cinco Ranch Blvd. Since they don't build houses I am guessing that is where one of the new elementary schools will be going. Anyone know? I did see this: http://instantnewskaty.com/2011/04/20/20837.
  3. I spoke with someone tonight that said Klein ISD is in major financial trouble and the land for HS #5 is up for sale. Can anyone verify this? Also, it was mentioned that KISD teachers have been asked for suggestions as to how to deal with the financial situation...this seemed a little odd to me.
  4. For those who don't know about Klein Collins, It opened in 2001 under projected enrollment. Klein Collins was built to relieve Klein Oak which had around at or over 3,000 students. Klein Collins opened with 1,024 students. Now the school's enrollment is 3,175 and expected to rise. KC Administrators are comparing the enrollment to almost meeting Klein and Klein Forest Enrollments which are 3,300 and 3,500. Klein Oak is still at around 2,900 and rising. In between classes at KC, Hallways are very crowded unless you take one of many side hallways. You cant even walk down the hall without being bumped into or bumping into someone else. Not to mention Klein Collins recieved 5 T-Buildings this year for the first time ever for the overcrowding. The traffic is an issue also. KC is located on a 2 laned road (Ella Blvd) along with Schindewolf Intermediate and Kreinhop Elementary Schools. All 3 Schools are very close to each other. During the morning traffic is backed up in front of the school so bad that Spring Cypress is flooded with cars.Favel Rd coming from the back entrance of Normandy Forest is also the worst car to car. Traffic is car to car 5 minutes before the bell rings at 7:31 for 1st period to start. There are only 2 entry/exit ways out of the student parking lot, so you can only imagine what its like after school. Ella Blvd needs to be 4 lanes to accomadate 3 schools. A light also needs to be added at the intersection of Ella and Falvel in front of Schindewolf. Klein Collins is certainly gotten larger and will not get any smaller, therefore the following things need to be added to help the overcrowding issue. *Add a 4th Lunch for 07/08 school year. *Add 2 Lanes to Ella Blvd. *Add Traffic Light directly in front of Schindewolf. *Add 3rd Exit/Entry to Student Parking Lot. *Return Bus Service to Normandy Forest.
  5. I've been going to the KISD zoning committee meetings for Ulrich Intermediate. Looks like the favored option is to use the railroad tracks as the dividing line taking everything to the west. My concern is that this creates a very low income school population. I have a feeling that Ulrich is going to start out as a Title 1 school. My neighborhood is right outside the edge of the boundary and my fear is that one day we will get moved to Ulrich (seems like we are affected any time a school anywhere close to us is rezoned). There was another option on the table which provided a very good mix (socio-economically) for Ulrich but the Krimmel folks in Gleannloch near threw a fit when they saw that option - thats when the district came back at the second meeting with the new option to use the railroad tracks. What do you think? Should I be worried about property values if Ulrich is a Title 1 school?
  6. Klein ISD has named Dr. Kathy Brown as Ulrich's first principal. She is currently the a ssosiate principal at Klein high. She is very nice, very organized and I think she'll be a great principal. http://i370.photobucket.com/albums/oo141/klein_04/2-KHSadmin08-09.jpg
  7. Any one know what is being build on Spring Cypress close to Old Louetta? They cleared a lot of trees and tore down old farm buildings but i haven't the slightest clue what's going in. Just curious

Katy News http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/nb/kat...ws/5677887.html April 5, 2008, 9:06PM Trustees name 3 new Katy schools Board approves Cardiff Junior High and Bonnie Holland and Morton Ranch elementaries By KAREN HASTINGS Chronicle Correspondent Three new Katy schools will be named for one of the area's oldest families, one of its original ranches, and for a longtime district employee who learned of the honor in a surprise school board vote Saturday morning. Bonnie Holland Elementary will be the name of the new school at 23720 Seven Meadows Parkway. Katy school board members also voted but not unanimously

  11. What was the enrollment at Klein High School in 1938.
  12. We are a KISD homeowner and taxpayer. We chose to move specifically to the Klein Collins attendance zone when it came time for my children to begin high school. This is our fourth year, and the body of students has continued to increase drastically! My kids are constantly complaining of not being able to get food at lunch (lines too long), school bus is way too crowded, and the crowding in-between classes. Personally we are aware of numerous students that have lied and/or faked paperwork to get registered to attend KCHS. My question is: what are school districts doing to enforce, or investigate this problem? Do they really care if a student is attending their school illegally? I realize they don't have the manpower to check out every student, but some type of safeguard has got to be in place. I know of a student faking a utility bill -- all while living in the Klein Forest zone, or another student completed a lease document with their friend that lived in the KC zone -- all while living in Spring ISD. I understand that they want to attend KCHS for all the same reasons that we moved here. It would've been better for our family to stay in the home we moved from (in Spring ISD, Westfield HS), but we did the right thing, and it's very disheartening and frustrating when others totally lie and cheat to be there. I ask, why have attendance zones, if they're not enforced?
  13. Schindewolf Intermediate School opened August 19, 2002 with an enrollment of 1,025 students. Schindewolf shares a 117.5 acre site with Klein Collins High School and Kreinhop Elementary School. The school was built to relieve neighboring Hildebrandt Intermediate School which then was way over capacity like it is currently with about 1,700-2,000 students. That's why Krimmel was built. Schindewolf went from 1,025 students in the 02-03 school year to about 1,200 in the 04-05 school year. In the 04-05 they added 1 T-Building for capacity issues. In the 06-07 School year they added another one. Now for the upcomming 2007-2008 school year Schindewolf will house 1,339 students starting August 27. Here recently Klein ISD just added 2 more T-buildings, so thats 4 T-Buildings for Schindewolf. My question is will Schindewolf end up like Hildebrandt just was with 14 T-buildings before the district actually decides there needs to be another Intermediate School built? Approximately 1,703 Students will attend Schindewolf within the next 5 short school years. By the way Klein ISD Just added 2 more T-Buildings to Kreinhop Elementary and another was added to Klein Collins High School along with the 5 existing added last summer. They also added more T-Buildings at Benignus, Hassler and a couple more Elementary Schools. Klein ISD needs to do some rezoning or plan on building 8-10 new schools in the 2008 Bond Plan in progress. 14. We will be moving to the area this summer and I of course want my children to attend a great school. Would love input on experiences you have had with these elementary schools. I think we will probably end up within the Katy ISD area. We are looking in 7 Meadows or perhaps Grand Lakes and maybe Cinco Ranch West. Anyone have kids at Griffin Elem in Katy ISD. We did cruise thru Westheimer Lakes really fast. Where are they zoned for schools?? Also can someone tell me what exactly is Lamar Consolidated all about??? What exactly does consolidated mean?? Thank you !!
  15. No wonder why people are moving here. There is nothing out here but plains, but they continue to move into the Katy area in droves. More homes are sold here than in any other part of Houston. -------------------- 1: High School for the Performing and Visual Arts 2: YES College Preparatory 3: Cinco Ranch High School 4: The Debakey High School for Health Professions 5: Memorial High Shool 6: Clements High School 7: James E. 16. Klein ISD's new Krimmel Intermediate School Facility Pictures The New Intermediate School will feature about 177,000 square feet, and is designed from the original Schindewolf Floorplan with new modern modifications. Both facilities were designed by Spencer Partnership Architects.
  17. (from press release today from Klein ISD) The Klein ISD International Business Academy will open in August 2007 for ninth grade students. This magnet program provides a strong academic, business, marketing, and foreign language foundation for students who wish to enter the highly competitive global environment. To apply for the academy, students must complete an application that includes an essay. Parents will provide a signed permission form. And students must provide the names of two intermediate school teachers as references. The application items are due by noon on February 9. Students may visit with their guidance counselors for more information. The International Business Academy will be housed at Klein Forest High School. Students will attend classes during regular school hours and participate in enrichment activities and community service projects. Opportunities will be provided for interaction with members of the community who work in the international business environment.
  18. The Klein ISD Board of Trustees approved a Fine Arts addition for Wunderlich Intermediate School on their January 9, 2007 meeting held at Klein Central Office. The Building will house instructional space for Band, Orchestra and Choir. Wunderlich Fine Arts Addition Architectural Design Graphics
  19. Notice of Meeting of Klein ISD: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The regular meeting of the Klein ISD Board of Trustees will be Tuesday, December 12. The public portion of the meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the board room at the central office of the district at 7200 Spring Cypress Road, Klein. Among the topics that the board members will consider is the calendar for the 2007-08 school year. The calendar approved by the board must reflect mandates of the Texas Legislature. For example, school may not begin before the fourth Monday in August. After the calendar is approved, it will be posted to the Klein ISD Web site at www.kleinisd.net. This should be interesting! For example, the students who will be seniors next year will be graduating at the end of June now instead of May. Some colleges, such as U.T., are utilizing a new tool called "Early Start", which requires incoming freshman to be on campus in June/July, instead of August, to ease overcrowding. So, some students will be essentially going straight from their high school graduation to college. This isn't the only big change coming from the Texas Lege. Students who will be incoming high school freshmen next year will be required to take more math & science than previously required. This is a great idea, but the middle schools will have to step up what they're teaching now in order to get those kids ready for extra work.
  20. This weekend I was at Hildebrandt Intermediate School for a football game and it was not a pretty site. For those of you who dont know about this school, It is in Klein ISD. Hildebrandt Intermediate School, having been dedicated in December 1973, is the oldest and most northern intermediate school in the Klein Independent School District. It is also the most overcrowded school in Klein ISD. Currently Intermediate School #8 is being built to help relieve. Hildebrandt serves over 1500+ students. There are 14 T-Buildings outside around the back and sides of the school. It is just crazy. I have nerver seen so many T-Buildings at one school in my life. I went to the rest room inside the building, and through the outside of the building are windows, and just looking through, this school is very outdated and old. There needs to be a renovation project before its to late. Come on the building is 33 going on 34 years old. It is a very good school though, lets be forereal Its in Klein ISD which is in the top 17 percent of school districts in the USA.
  21. Katy ISD built a new high school, Seven Lakes High School, to relieve nearby high schools. Any thoughts on the new building?
  22. Tommorrow Tuesday October 24th, 2006 Local High Schools in Harris and Montgomery Counties as well as other surrounding counties will be participating in the Area UIL Marching Band Competition. Each campus will have a specific performing time. The competition will be held at Moorehead Stadium at Conroe High School in Conroe ISD. It should really be a great event. The Klein Collins Band from Klein Collins High School in Klein ISD has a really great show this year, (Godzillia Eats Las Vegas). There use of props and visual techniques is very impressive. They also have great marching technique. I think they will advance to finals and eventually State. Klein Collins performs at 7:15 pm.
  23. Good stuff. Borat at Katy High School - Learning American Football
  24. I think Klein ISD's 4 new schools are really nice. Krimmel Intermediate School which will be a redesign of the Schindewolf Intermediate floorplan will feature 177,000 sq.ft, which is 6,000 sq.ft smaller than Schindewolf. It also promotes grade level Housing which is when all 3 grade level's 4 main subject classes and administration is placed in one section of the building. Students will not have to leave their house unless they are going to an elective coures, Athletic wing, Library, or Cafeteria. The brick colors are a light pinkish and light reddish color with white stone as the trim. Key changes in the design that differ from the original Schindewolf plan is the location of the Cafeteria and Gymnasium(PE Dept.). The school sits on a big piece of land, therefore unlike Schindewolf its far back from the street. The location is at 7070 FM 2920, 1 mile west of Kuykendahl, 1 1/2 miles east of Stuebner Airline. Benignus Elementary is the nicest Elementary School that Klein ISD has built in my opinion. It is a beautiful school. It features a amphitheater in the library, flex room in each pod for small group instruction, outdoor learning space, attatched gymnasium to the main building, art and science labs, and a very modern, contemporary exterior. The same brick colors were used on Benignus that were used on Krimmel. Benignus is a 106,149 sq.ft facility, which is 2,201 sq.ft smaller than Metzler,Kreinhop, McDougle and Korhville Elementary Schools. The location is at the intersection of FM 2920 and Alvin A. Klein Rd. 1/4 mile west of Krimmel Intermediate. Vistas High School is a unique transformation from a former H-E-B Store to a School. It features 19 classrooms, 1 computer Lab, Library, Cafeteria and a 3 office administartion suite with a confrence room. Architects did a great job redesigning the front of the building so that it has a school friendly look with the flag pole entrance. The former Grocery Store contains a little over 30,000 sq.ft of space. It is located 1/4 mile east of Klein Forest High School at 12550 Bammel North Houston Rd. Frank Elementary School will be in the south part of the Gleannloch Farms Subdivision near Boudreaux Rd., 2 minutes from Korhville Elementary School. This school will also open in the 06-07 school year. The layout will be a replicate design of Benignus Elementary School with small changes such as brick colors and minor accessories. Thats my outlook on Klein ISD's 4 new schools. High School #5 will probaly be a redesign of Klein Collins High School. Who Knows? The Klein Indepentent School District is doinga great job choosing Architects. RWS Architects were used to redesign Vistas High School and Spencer Partnership Architects were used in the design phases of Benignus, Krimmel and Frank.
