  1. Here are my photos so far. I have some more I have to take of this really cool wall they have left standing all by itself. I keep wondering how it stays up because there is nothing to brace it. I guess they are waiting for it to fall on its own. I will head over there this afternoon and add to these. I took these two weeks ago: http://www.tropicaltexans.com/images/Houston/tcfeb05.jpg From the TGI Friday's lot perpendicular to the Tollway. http://www.tropicaltexans.com/images/Houston/tcfeb05-2.jpg Same angle. http://www.tropicaltexans.com/images/Houston/tcfeb05-3.jpg Dillard's goin' bye-bye. http://www.tropicaltexans.com/images/Houston/tcfeb05-4.jpg The backside of the mall--JC Penney is gone already.

  3. MD Anderson South Campus is located within the UT Research Park Complex. M.D. Anderson, Health Science Center break ground on research facility Houston Business Journal - 1:46 PM CDT Tuesday, April 10, 2007 The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston are collaborating on a new imaging research facility. The organizations broke ground Tuesday at The University of Texas Research Park on what will become the Center for Advanced Biomedical Imaging Research, dedicated to developing technologies that will detect heart disease, cancer and other illnesses at their earliest stages. The facility, scheduled for completion in late 2009, is being built in cooperation with GE Healthcare and the Texas Enterprise Fund. Link to article. Wow, not only am I getting a 1.1-million-square-foot teaching hospital within walking distance of my condo and a connection to N. Macgregor via Cambridge, but I'm also getting a 315,000-square-foot facility just down the street! I was hoping for more verticality, but I can live with it.
  4. I am trying to find out who the original architects of the Park Towers office buildings were. They are located at 1233 and 1333 West Loop South. Orignially they were a brick type facade with arched windows but some time ago the buildings were gutted and totally remodeled into the glass towers you see today. I would like to find the original architect's identity as I have heard stories it was designed by a friend's father who passed away just as the buildings were being completed and so far I have reached a dead end on the research. Inquiries I made to Kirksey Co. who did the remodel went unanswered. Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

  7. Thanks for posting that great pic Subdude! I remember I had posted it in the old forum but had since forgotten what website it came from. I believe the Tidelands and Tides II were torn down during the late 90's to be replaced with surface parking lots for the Med Center I always liked those old buildings.
  8. Midway is planning on redeveloping the current Levey Park on Richmond between Eastside and Wakeforest into a mini CityCentre-type development that will include a 16-story office, lofts, retail and a park. i've heard additional development is possible as well. renderings should be floating around soon i'm sure.

  11. I've just herd Perkins + Will has acquired Kirksey Architecture. Has anyone else herd this rumor or have any information to validate it or invalidate it?
  12. First of all, I'm not being "let's demolish everything that helps po folk" guy. This is a genuine inquiry. How do Label Warehouse and Sand Dollar stay in business? I imagine the tax rate on those places is insane, and while I do see people shop there, I can't imagine it's enough revenue to cover (letter alone profit). Is there some sort of subsidy or tax shelter for businesses like these? Has no one thought this would be a good indie movie theatre or retail spot? Just curious.
  13. So its official, the Houston Area will be getting it's first Ritz-Carlton Residences. It's going to be in The Woodlands off Lake Woodlands. I would have preferred it to be in Houston, but maybe this will catalyze a possible future Ritz Carlton hotel for Houston. Either way, great news! https://communityimpact.com/houston/the-woodlands/development/2023/10/12/the-ritz-carlton-residences-announced-for-lake-woodlands-area/
  14. I couldn't find a thread on this elsewhere on HAIF, but as usual it's probably out there somewhere. Eldridge Oaks (Eldridge Parkway at Enclave Parkway) has been announced to have two office towers. The first tower is supposed to be finished in Fall 2009 with 350,000 square feet. Anyone want to guess how many stories that is?
  15. Someone please tell me more about this project. This would be for the Texas Medical Center at the corner of Main & Holcombe, where the Bank of America building sits. http://www.slideshare.net/QingjingZuo/smilodon-rendering-collection-20154-47319504
  16. Menninger Clinic At 12301 South Main Street. http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/morning_call/2011/03/menninger-clinic-to-break-ground-on.html This may have already been posted but I coudln't find it.
  17. https://fulshearcentral.com/ Development with office condos, retail & hotel. Developer: Janapriya Upscale Architect: Kirksey Leasing: CBRE Engineering: BGE This article from Community Impact says it should be breaking ground this summer. It mentions a site along the Westpark Tollway/FM 1093 on the north side, but CBRE's information shows it is actually on the south side of that road, near Texas Heritage Parkway and a planned extension of McKinnon Road. Renderings from website.

  21. A couple years ago, the Towers Motor Hotel at 2130 W. Holcombe was demolished to make way for a Metrontario development called the Life Science Plaza. Metrontario's site gives this information: "This project is currently in the pre-construction phase, with over 100,000 square feet (9,300 square meters) already leased" Does anyone know if this is current, or if there is any newer information on this project? This is the sign on holcombe (pre-demolition, but it is still there) http://arch-ive.org/towers/tow004.jpg http://ephemera.arch-ive.org/postcards/towpc002.jpg
