  1. Thanks for the sub-board, hopefully it attracts local news. If anything substantial is brewing around thoroughfare expansion in Kingwood proper, I'd love to hear it. Traffic has progressed to miserable in the 12 years I've lived up here.

  8. I was looking at maps of the Kingwood Area and I was wondering if anyone has noticed that the area looks like it was set up to maybe include a mall when it was developed. The area between Northpark and Kingwood Dr. on the west side of 59. It looks to have a ring road that most malls in the Houston area have. Also, it's within close proximity to 59. Just wondering if anyone knows if the area was intended to include a commercial area like this when it was developed.
  9. METRO SEARCHING FOR INDIVIDUAL SUSPECTED IN VEHICLE THEFTS AT KINGWOOD PARK & RIDE METRO is asking for the public
  10. Has anybody heard or seen anything about this development. I went to the website www.kings-harbor.com and it looks to be something pretty decent looking. Along the lines of the Sugar Land and Woodlands town square but with Lake Houston as a back drop. That should make it stand out a bit from the others. They should put some harbor so boats could dock at the entrance. That would make it really appealing. I've always wondered why Clear Lake hasn't done anything like this yet. I would figure being so close to the water would make it a worthwhile proposition. Anyway the developer of this Kingwood project is the same group that recently purchased Town & Country mall and plans to turn that into a mix use project.
  11. edit: we found our players. thank you! The University of Houston's Program for Excellence in Selling (PES) is having its annual Golf Tournament this Monday, the 31st at the Kingwood Country Club. There will be roughly 360 players from local corporations and area businesses. The tournament is a shotgun start/scramble. There will be an open driving range, drinks provided throughout the day, boxed lunch, a nice dinner, golf giveaways, a silent auction, a raffle, and many more goodies. Winners of the tournament will receive special prizes. I am a student in PES and I am trying to get a team together. No, there is no cost to you. You just drive out and bring your clubs. It's a great opportunity for golf lovers or businesspeople looking to network. If you are interested, send me a message. There is a registration sheet that must be completed for anyone who is interested. Details: Event Information: Monday March 31st , 2008 360 players total (90 teams of 4) 8:00 AM
  12. I am considering taking a job in Kingwood. We currently live off 290 & Huffmiester. My husband works off 290 and Fairbanks. He does not mind the commute time as much as I do. I was considering moving to The Woodlands and was wondering what the commute was like to Kingwood. And what is the best route? If there are any suggestions for neighborhoods that are better for both our commute times I am open to your ideas. Thank You
  13. I spent a good portion of yesterday in Kingwood with a few friends up there. Seems that they have quite a few complaints about the area and seem to blame Houston for a few of them. One of the more interesting statements I've heard is that Kingwood (in their eyes) is going ghetto. Reason that they are blaming this on is the annexation! One of the examples they talked about are the apartment complexes just off Kingwood drive (or whatever it's called) and point out that "it's being turned into a drug dealer's haven!" There seems to be a considerable amount of complaining about the lack of eating choices in the area as well. I think they blame Houston on that as well. The entire evening's conversation seemed rather dominated by their beef with Houston and the woes of the kingwood community. While I know there are a number of Kingwood residents on this system, is it REALLY considered that bad or did I just come across a bunch of people that just wanted to complain all night?
  14. Kingwood is a suburban community which is within the Houston city limits. Kingwoodians have Houston city services yet also do not consider themselves to be Houstonians. Kingwood was annexed by Houston in 1994. The aftermath was messy: there was a large group of people who wanted to disannex from Houston. The measure can fail, though "Free Kingwood" banners are still seen in places. Also, Kingwood is a part of Humble ISD. Kingwood even has its own official internet forum at its website.
  15. Does anyone have any more information about this? I am interested in moving to some of the NE suburbs. I came across pure green design homes at puregreenhome.com and wondered if anyone kew anything about them, Barrington Kingwood or any other green construction in the NE suburbs.
  16. As a Kingwood resident, I'm pretty excited about this: "The landscaped pedestrian streets, multi-level central plaza, play fountain, public art, waterfront walkway, and community events combine to create a unique environment to live, work, shop, and play." http://www.kings-harbor.com/
  17. It would be nice to see a section for the northeast side of town, Kingwood and the 1960 area. Just a suggestion!
