  1. CBS 11 KHOU-TV Houston has hired WCNC-TV Charlotte, NC Weekend News Anchor Xavier Walton as the TEGNA Station's new #HTownRush Morning Anchor. "We are excited to have him on board," KHOU President & GM Robert Springer, told mikemcguff.com. Springer adds Walton wants to move to Houston, to not only report the news, but also to make it a better place to live through his community involvement. With Walton taking over Weekday Mornings, current #HTownRush Weekday Morning News Anchor Lisa Hernandez is moved to the Weekend Evenings, where she will be doing weekend evening newscasts alongside Ron Trevino, who currently anchors the weekend evening timeslot alone. However, Trevino will continue to solo anchor the Saturday Morning News.   2. Former Fox 26 KRIV-TV Houston Weather Meteorologist Lisa Vaughn has reappeared on Houston TV today on CBS 11 KHOU-TV Houston during the 12, Noon newscast. Representatives of the TEGNA station said Vaughn is freelancing for them. For those who've been living under a rock, Vaughn left Fox 26 after just 2 years & last summer, she began a teaching post in the University of Houston Mathematics Department. "It's a unique position because it allows me to not only teach math, but I'm also going to be managing the entire data science master's degree program," Vaughn told mikemcguff.com back then.   6. Looks like CBS 11 KHOU-TV Houston has an updated logo in case you've been living under a glacier.... Besides their new home at Avenida in Downtown, they also updated their logo as well. According to Mike McGuff of mikemcguff.com., it looks like CBS 11 is keeping up with the times as they're making recent changes to their Weekday Morning Show & other developments. Newscast Studio reported CBS 11 began using their new logo on Social Media.   12. Jacqueline Crea has decided to leave KHOU-TV CBS 11 Houston after 3 years with the CBS TEGNA station & heading to the Mile-High City. According to Mike McGuff of mikemcguff.com., Crea's new job will be Reporter/Fill-In Anchor. "It's tough leaving a place that has become home these past 3 years & where I have family, but I'm looking forward to the new opportunities at KMGH in Denver, with my fiancé & our pup," Crea told mikemcguff.com. "KHOU shaped me & challenged me in ways I never could've imagined & will forever be grateful for the experiences & stories I leave with." Crea joined KHOU-TV in 2014. She was previously the weekend anchor at KTSM-TV El Paso. She began her journalism career with KNSD-TV San Diego, CA as a freelance reporter. The Los Angeles, CA native graduated from UC-San Diego. Her fiancé, Tom Biberacher, popped the question to Crea last Thanksgiving in San Diego. Her last day with KHOU-TV CBS 11 is on February 9th.   15. Former Ch. 13 Sports Director Bob Allen lost his battle with cancer last night at the age of 70. The Craft's also made the official announcement during a small segment in KHOU-TV's morning newscast including a gender reveal.   17. Tonight on the 10:00pm news, KHOU CBS 11 meterologist Mario Gomez will be delivering the weather for the final time on the TEGNA station. As Mike McGuff of mikemcguff.com had reported earlier in April, Gomez is leaving KHOU-TV after 32 years. However lately, since he was still on the air. many KHOU 11 viewers asked if Gomez was actually leaving. McGuff tell them, "I hope you enjoyed Gomez's work this summer because his time with the Houston CBS affiliate ends tonight 10pm." Gomez took to Facebook earlier this morning with the following message: "As one of the longest serving TV meteorologists in Houston, I want to say thank you for allowing me to come into your homes. First, let's get to longtime political reporter Doug Miller, who's been with the Houston CBS station for 23 years. Miller, according to Mike McGuff of mikemcguff.com, chose to take the TEGNA buyout offer & sources reporting that several of the station's photographers are likely following him out the door as well. He started out his journalism career as a police reporter all the way to a newspaper editor during his long decades in the Houston news trenches. Second departure taking place at KHOU-TV is reporter Alice Barr, who was there for just a cup of coffee after 2 years (stepping stone obviously) as she's going to KXAS-TV NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth. Ladies & Gentlemen, KHOU-TV has expanded their 4:00pm newscast to 1 full hour starting next week: looks like Ch. 13 will be getting major competition for outstanding 4:00pm full hour newscasts in the Bayou City! According to mikemcguff.com, KHOU CBS 11 News Executive Director Phillip Bruce said, "We'll be looking to our viewers to help set the agenda for what we cover and give them a chance to interact & speak out on things they care about." When former KHOU-TV/KPRC-TV news anchor Steve Smith was honored at the 12th annual Lone Star Emmy Awards with the Silver Circle Award this year, it was very difficult to see his tribute video at the beginning of the webcast.
